Direct oxidation of methane to methanol (DMTM), constituting a major challenge for C1 chemistry, has aroused significant interest. The present work reports the synergistic effect of neighboring [Fe]--[Cu] cations, which can significantly boost the CH3OH productivity (100.9 and 41.9 → 259.1 μmol∙g−1cat∙h−1) and selectivity (0.28 and 17.6% → 71.7%) of the best performing Fe0.6%Cu0.68%-BEA (relative to monomeric Fe1.28%- and Cu1.28%-BEA) during the continuous H2O-mediated N2O DMTM. The combined experimental (in situ FTIR, D2O isotopic tracer technique) and theoretical (DFT, ab initio molecular dynamics (AIMD)) studies reveal deeper mechanistic insights that the synergistic effect of [Fe]--[Cu] can not only significantly favor active O production (ΔG = 0.18 eV), but also efficiently motivate the reaction following a H2O proton-transfer route (ΔG = 0.07 eV), eventually strikingly promoting CH3OH productivity/selectivity. Generally, the proposed strategy by employing the synergistic effect of bimetallic cations to modify DMTM activity would substantially favor other highly efficient catalyst designs.

We experimentally investigated indoor air ventilation using the CO2 tracer technique to verify the infection cluster of SARS-CoV-2 that erupted at an office space. Multi-placed observations revealed extremely low air change rates (0.1/h) at the site. The local infection clusters were observed several meters away from a door that is the only ventilation in the office, which suggests a negative effect of plastic sheeting shielding. The thermo-fluid simulation showed that the plastic sheet blocked the airflow and trapped the exhaled air in each partition cell. As risk suppression methods, improving air ventilation by opening windows and using fans were verified, and significant improvements (10-28/h) were observed for each partition cells.

Abstract In this paper, we apply the multi-tracer technique to harmonic-space (i.e. angular) power spectra with a likelihood-based approach. This goes beyond the usual Fisher matrix formalism hitherto implemented in forecasts with angular statistics, opening up a window for future developments and direct application to available data sets. We also release a fully-operational modified version of the publicly available code CosmoSIS, where we consistently include all the add-ons presented in the previous papers of this series. The result is a modular cosmological parameter estimation suite for angular power spectra of galaxy number counts, allowing for single and multiple tracers, and including density fluctuations, redshift-space distortions, and weak lensing magnification. We demonstrate the improvement on parameter constraints enabled by the use of multiple tracers on a multi-tracing analysis of luminous red galaxies and emission line galaxies. We obtain an enhancement of $44\%$ on the 2σ upper bound on the sum of neutrino masses.
