<p>Let $ G $ be a connected standard simple algebraic group of type $ C $ or $ D $ over an algebraically closed field $ \Bbbk $ of positive characteristic $ p &gt; 0 $, and $ \mathfrak{g}: = \mathrm{Lie}(G) $ be the Lie algebra of $ G $. Motivated by the variety of $ \mathbb{E}(r, \mathfrak{g}) $ of $ r $-dimensional elementary subalgebras of a restricted Lie algebra $ \mathfrak{g} $, in this paper we characterize the irreducible components of $ \mathbb{E}(\mathrm{rk}_{p}(\mathfrak{g})-1, \mathfrak{g}) $ where the $ p $-rank $ \mathrm{rk}_{p}(\mathfrak{g}) $ is defined to be the maximal dimension of an elementary subalgebra of $ \mathfrak{g} $.</p>

AbstractIn this paper the authors produce a projective indecomposable module for the Frobenius kernel of a simple algebraic group in characteristic p that is not the restriction of an indecomposable tilting module. This yields a counterexample to Donkin’s longstanding Tilting Module Conjecture. The authors also produce a Weyl module that does not admit a p-Weyl filtration. This answers an old question of Jantzen, and also provides a counterexample to the {(p,r)}-Filtration Conjecture.

Abstract Let $G$ be a complex connected simple algebraic group with a fixed real form $\sigma $. Let $G({\mathbb{R}})=G^\sigma $ be the corresponding group of real points. This paper reports a finiteness theorem for the classification of irreducible unitary Harish-Chandra modules of $G({\mathbb{R}})$ (up to equivalence) having nonvanishing Dirac cohomology. Moreover, we study the distribution of the spin norm along Vogan pencils for certain $G({\mathbb{R}})$, with particular attention paid to the unitarily small convex hull introduced by Salamanca-Riba and Vogan.

Given a locally finite leafless tree $T$, various algebraic groups over local fields might appear as closed subgroups of $\operatorname{Aut}(T)$. We show that the set of closed cocompact subgroups of $\operatorname{Aut}(T)$ that are isomorphic to a quasi-split simple algebraic group is a closed subset of the Chabauty space of $\operatorname{Aut}(T)$. This is done via a study of the integral Bruhat–Tits model of $\operatorname{SL}_{2}$ and $\operatorname{SU}_{3}^{L/K}$, that we carry on over arbitrary local fields, without any restriction on the (residue) characteristic. In particular, we show that in residue characteristic $2$, the Tits index of simple algebraic subgroups of $\operatorname{Aut}(T)$ is not always preserved under Chabauty limits.

Abstract Let G be a simple algebraic group over an algebraically closed field K of characteristic {p>0} . We consider connected reductive subgroups X of G that contain a given distinguished unipotent element u of G. A result of Testerman and Zalesski [D. Testerman and A. Zalesski, Irreducibility in algebraic groups and regular unipotent elements, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 141 2013, 1, 13–28] shows that if u is a regular unipotent element, then X cannot be contained in a proper parabolic subgroup of G. We generalize their result and show that if u has order p, then except for two known examples which occur in the case {(G,p)=(C_{2},2)} , the subgroup X cannot be contained in a proper parabolic subgroup of G. In the case where u has order {>p} , we also present further examples arising from indecomposable tilting modules with quasi-minuscule highest weight.

The maximal finite abelian subgroups, up to conjugation, of the simple algebraic group of type E8 over an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0 are computed. This is equivalent to the determination of the fine gradings on the simple Lie algebra of type E8 with trivial neutral homogeneous component. The Brauer invariant of the irreducible modules for graded semisimple Lie algebras plays a key role.

Let $G$ be a semi-simple algebraic group over an algebraically closed field $k$, whose characteristic is positive and does not divide the order of the Weyl group of $G$, and let $\breve{G}$ be its Langlands dual group over $k$. Let $C$ be a smooth projective curve over $k$ of genus at least two. Denote by $\operatorname{Bun}_{G}$ the moduli stack of $G$-bundles on $C$ and $\operatorname{LocSys}_{\breve{G}}$ the moduli stack of $\breve{G}$-local systems on $C$. Let $D_{\operatorname{Bun}_{G}}$ be the sheaf of crystalline differential operators on $\operatorname{Bun}_{G}$. In this paper we construct an equivalence between the bounded derived category $D^{b}(\operatorname{QCoh}(\operatorname{LocSys}_{\breve{G}}^{0}))$ of quasi-coherent sheaves on some open subset $\operatorname{LocSys}_{\breve{G}}^{0}\subset \operatorname{LocSys}_{\breve{G}}$ and bounded derived category $D^{b}(D_{\operatorname{Bun}_{G}}^{0}\text{-}\text{mod})$ of modules over some localization $D_{\operatorname{Bun}_{G}}^{0}$ of $D_{\operatorname{Bun}_{G}}$. This generalizes the work of Bezrukavnikov and Braverman in the $\operatorname{GL}_{n}$ case.

AbstractThe study of existence of a universal C*-completion of the *-algebra canonically associated to a Hecke pair was initiated by Hall, who proved that the Hecke algebra associated to (SL2($\mathbb{Q}$p), SL2($\mathbb{Z}$p)) does not admit a universal C*-completion. Kaliszewski, Landstad and Quigg studied the problem by placing it in the framework of Fell–Rieffel equivalence, and highlighted the role of other C*-completions. In the case of the pair (SLn($\mathbb{Q}$p), SLn($\mathbb{Z}$p)) for n ⩾ 3 we show, invoking property (T) of SLn($\mathbb{Q}$p), that the C*-completion of the L1-Banach algebra and the corner of C*(SLn($\mathbb{Q}$p)) determined by the subgroup are distinct. In fact, we prove a more general result valid for a simple algebraic group of rank at least 2 over a $\mathfrak{p}$-adic field with a good choice of a maximal compact open subgroup.
