AbstractIt is now common practice to constrain cosmological parameters using supernovae (SNe) catalogues constructed from several different surveys. Before performing such a joint analysis, however, one should check that parameter constraints derived from the individual SNe surveys that make up the catalogue are mutually consistent. We describe a statistically-robust mutual consistency test, which we calibrate using simulations, and apply it to each pairwise combination of the surveys making up, respectively, the UNION2 catalogue and the very recent JLA compilation by Betoule et al. We find no inconsistencies in the latter case, but conclusive evidence for inconsistency between some survey pairs in the UNION2 catalogue.

High purity phosphatic chemicals should be produced for the development of phosphorus chemical industry. The effects of pairwise combination of scrubbing, calcination and flotation techniques on chemical composition content of different size fractions of a siliceous-calcareous phosphate ore are investigated. The grades of the different size fractions processed by flotation first and then by calcination are higher than those processed by scrubbing first and then by calcination. The grades of the coarse fractions are all higher than 30%, and it can be up to 35.43% for the 98~200 μm fraction. Moreover, the A.I. contents of the all fractions decrease obviously. Especially, it decreases from 11.12% to 5.14% for the fine < 74 μm fraction, which is lower than that processed by scrubbing first and then by calcination about 5%. The SEM images indicate that the effects of scrubbing and calcination on surface characteristics of ore samples are different.

Studies on heterokaryons forced between sorbose-resistant (transport-defective) mutans of Neurospora crassa and a sorbose-sensitive (transport-intact) wildtype strain show that mutants sorr A-1 and sorr B-57, mapping in separate linkage groups, are recessive to wildtype; a third mutant, not linked to the others, shows intermediate expression of the resistance character for one of two criteria considered. The functional relations between sorr-loci A and B and the amount of resistance caused by defects in both of them have been investigated in forced heterokaryons of the type A-B + A-B, AB-+AB- and A-B + AB-. Pairwise combination of A- with B- resulted in complementation to the sorbose-sensitive wild-phenotype (“no-growth” complementation). The occurrence of no-growth complementation in the double heterozygote supports the conclusion derived earlier that both gene loci A and B are coding for permeases responsible for the uptake of sorbose.
