Introduction. Benign female paraurethral masses (BFPM) are not often found during practice. This is due to the small size of the BMP and the low specificity and effectiveness of imaging techniques (urethrocystography, ultrasound, computed tomography).Purpose of the study. To determine the frequency and structure of female BMP.Materials and methods. We conducted a retrospective analysis of the female medical records (n = 5,112) who went to the urologist in 2018 with complaints of a frequent and painful urination. In this population, 92 (1.79%) patients were diagnosed with BFPM.Results. In the structure of BFPM, the most common is urethral diverticulum -57 (61.9%) and paraurethral cyst - 24 (26%). In other cases, we identified a urethral polyp and leiomyoma in 7 (7,6%) и 4 (4,5%) of cases, respectively. The average womens' age who were diagnosed with was 29.2 ± 7.3 years. BFPM were detected most often in women aged 26 to 35 years (48.9%). All patients complained of frequent urination. We have recorded the following complaints as well: feeling of a foreign body in the perineum - 77.1%, imperative urinary urgency - 64.1%, perineal pain - 28.2%, dyspareunia - 26%, difficulty urinating - 14.1%. The above-mentioned complaints were noted within 1 year by more than half of women (72.8%).Conclusions. BFPM were diagnosed in 1.79% of women. Of these, 2/3 of cases were urethral diverticula, and % of cases were paraurethral cyst. The diagnosis of BFPM should be comprehensive and combine examination, palpation and instrumental (ultrasound, urethrocystoscopy, MRI) diagnosis of the urethral region.

Paraurethral cysts develop on the site of the paraurethral glands (Skin glands), and are a fairly rare pathology in women. The clinical course of paraurethral cysts is often asymptomatic. However, with an increase in the size of the cyst, women have complaints of frequent urination, dyspareunia, painful sensations in the perineum. Persistent microflora contributes to the aggravation of symptoms, up to the formation of an abscess. With inflammation of the paraurethral cyst, there is still no clear treatment algorithm. In this article, we present an observation of a 29‑year‑old woman with signs of an infected paraurethral cyst. We believe that the administration of antimicrobial drugs to women with signs of skinitis in combination with lower urinary tract infection is necessary for the purpose of preoperative preparation. Surgical treatment of an infected paraurethral cyst consisted of opening the abscess, followed by laser ablation of the inner surface of the cyst capsule. In the postoperative period, the patient also received antimicrobial therapy. We did not detect a recurrence of the paraurethral cyst, observing the patient for 1 year. Conclusion. Combined treatment (a combination of medical and surgical treatment) of an infected paraurethral cyst demonstrates high efficiency.

Paraurethral cysts are rare and occur with obstruction of the Skene duct. In this case, we aimed to present a paraurethral cyst in a baby girl. A 4-day-old newborn was consulted for pediatric urology because of an interlabial mass. In genital examination, a noninvasive mass measuring 2 × 1.5 cm was observed in the interlabial region, and the introitus was completely closed. Ultrasonography showed a cystic lesion localized on the right side of the urethra with a smoothly contoured, thin-walled, hypoechoic structure. The patient underwent puncture under sterile conditions. The content of the mass was mucoid and clear fluid. Paraurethral cysts are often asymptomatic and benign. There is no definitive consensus on treatment.

The paraurethral cysts are benign cystic formations, the clinical symptoms of which vary depending on the size of the cyst. The presented clinical observation describes the clinical picture, stages of surgical treatment, and results of histological examination of a large paraurethral cyst in a 36-year-old woman. The review of modern methods of diagnostics and treatment of paraurethral formations in women is made.

In women aged from 20 up to 60 years paraurethral cysts occur in 1–6%. In most cases, the clinical course of paraurethral cysts is asymptomatic, so their diagnosis can cause difficulties. Women who have paraurethral cysts may complain of pain, dyspareunia, and urinary disorders. The size of a cyst more than 2 cm can affect the quality of patient’s life, and very often causes symptoms of the lower urinary tract, including obstructive ones. Paraurethral cysts need to be differentiated other perineal formations. This article presents a review of the literature on the etiology, clinical course and diagnosis of paraurethral cysts. The main points of differential diagnosis of paraurethral cyst with urethral diverticulum, adenocarcinoma are also consecrated. Taking into consideration the anatomical location and the specifics of the treatment of paraurethral cysts, this problem has an interdisciplinary nature and requires the attention of specialists such as: urologist, gynecologist, surgeon.
