We report the first record of two teleost species from two archipelagos in the western equatorial Atlantic. We recorded the occurrence of Cantherhines pullus (Ranzani, 1842) (Monacanthidae, Tetraodontiformes) from the Fernando de Noronha Archipelago, a group of volcanic islands 345 km off the northeastern coast of Brazil. We also report the first regional record of Hemiramphus brasiliensis (Linnaeus, 1758) (Hemiramphidae, Beloniformes) from the Saint Peter and Saint Paul’s Archipelago, which is a small and isolated group of rocky islands 520 km from the Fernando de Noronha Archipelago on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge.

Abstract Anthropogenic pressures have been depleting the global biodiversity. In order to monitor the changes in ecosystems, molecular techniques can be used to characterize species composition. Among molecular markers capable of identifying species, the COI is the most used, and its sequencing is the standard procedure of how taxonomic information can be surveyed. Despite this, new possibilities of biodiversity profiling have become possible through the assessment of highly fragmented DNA molecules in environmental samples. Now, medium- and short-length markers are used in metabarcoding studies. Here, a survey of marine fish from the Saint Peter and Saint Paul Archipelago was barcoded, in which the COI barcode procedure identified 21 species of 11 families of fish. Then, the first extensive COI library of these islands located in isolation was constructed; from these sequences, the most appropriate primer pair for future metabarcoding studies was identified. The new Saint Peter and Saint Paul sequence database has 9,183 sequences from 165 species and 62 families of fish. The overall mean distance among all sequences was 0.4. This distance reveals that the archipelago is a reservoir of biodiversity as this attribute is higher than other islands around the world. Due to this, the protection of the archipelago should be enhanced and well monitored with science-based approaches such as DNA metabarcoding. In this case, the primer pair specifically designed from this library should be considered.

Background: Intestinal parasitic infections and HIV/AIDS have been the leading and persisting public health problems in the world. There vital causes of morbidity and mortality are remarkably high in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among patients attending Saint Peter hospital from December 2019 to May 2020. A total of 328 participants were select by using convenient sampling method. Socio-demographic data and knowledge, attitude and practice were collected using a structured questioner. Stool specimen was collected using clean container and processed and analyzed for parasitological examination using direct wet mount, formal-ether sedimentation and modified Ziehl-Neelsen (ZN) staining techniques. Venous blood was collected and the CD4+ T-lymphocyte and hemoglobin analyzed by Presto instrument. The data were analyzed by using SPSS version 23 and p values less than 0.05 were considered statistically significant.

Results: A total of 328 HIV-positive individuals (59.8% female) of age ranging from 13-72 years (mean=41.8, SD=10.8) participated in this study. The overall prevalence of intestinal parasites among the study participants was 26.2% (86/328), from this 88.4% (76/86) was infected by single parasite. IP was significantly associated with CD4 count <200 AOR (4.736 CI: 2.338-9.594; p<0.001) and also anemia AOR (3.271 CI: 1.069-10.010).

Conclusions: Intestinal parasitic infections are still common health problems among HIV/ADIS patients in the study area, so the health professionals need to give attention to parasitological examinations in the routine treatment of HIV/AIDS patients and also give education on these three parts knowledge, attitude and practice, but more focus and follow up on the practice of HIV/AIDS patients on transmission, prevention and control mechanisms of intestinal parasitosis.

The ancient church of Saint Peter in Biasca, in Canton of Ticino, preserves a pictorial cycle on the Life of St. Charles Borromeo, commissioned in 1620 by the parish priest Giovanni Basso to the painter Alessandro Gorla from Bellinzona. The twelve panels, complete with captions, which depict in an ideal order and with a lively language some episodes in the life of the Saint, can be considered an unicum, a direct reference to the presence of St. Charles in the Three Ambrosian Valleys, and a testimony of his reforming pastoral action, implemented according to the resolutions of the Council of Trent also thanks to the charismatic figure of Basso.

The central difference between the Orthodox teaching and the Catholic one regarding the Church comes from the conception regarding its foundation. In the Catholic conception, the visible Church was founded before the Pentecost, on the testimony of Saint Peter the Apostle, and at Pentecost only the invisible Church would have been added. The entire conception about the hierarchy, in the Roman Catholic Church, is strictly juridical. In reality, as the Orthodox theology testifies, the essence of the ecclesial hierarchy is charismatic, not juridical. This is what the great difference to the Catholic teaching consists in. The Eastern theology makes no abstraction of jurisdiction and canon law, yet, jurisdiction depends on grace, not grace on jurisdiction, contrary to what some Western Church theologians would suggest in certain works such as those belonging to the Western Theology.

ABSTRACT: The cycle that narrates the process from the wound to the conversion of Ignatius of Loyola had, from its origins, a decisive importance for the Society of Jesus, since it was understood as the second birth of its founder. The genesis of the three iconographic types that form this cycle —Vulneratur, Sanatur à S. Petro and Legit libros pios— must be sought in the Vita written by Pedro de Ribadeneyra (1572) and in its subsequent graphic dissemination in the works of Pieter Paul Rubens (1609) and the Galle brothers (1610). After the canonization of St. Ignatius, Jesuit residences were filled with pictorial series that, in many cases, included representations of these iconographic types, which sought to spread devotion of the saint and depict him as a model to imitate. KEYWORDS: Ignatius of Loyola; Wound in Pamplona; Apparition of Saint Peter; Conversion; Pieter Paul Rubens; Theodoor Galle; Hieronymus Wierix; Iconography; Society of Jesus; Baroque.
