A bidentate ligand with an integrated anion receptor forms dimeric rhodium complexes that become monomeric upon binding acetate guest, which is the basis for effector responsive hydroformylation catalysis.
Dimeric rhodium(ii) [Rh(L)(CH3CN)]2(PF6)4 and rhodium(iii) peroxide [Rh(L)(PPh3)]2(μ–η1:η1-O2)(PF6)4 and [Rh(L)(PCy3)]2(μ–η1:η1-O2)(PF6)4 (L = bis(N-pyridylimidazolylidenyl)methane) were reported.
The title compound, [Rh2(C7H5O2)4(C5H11N)2], an adduct of dimeric rhodium(II) benzoate with piperidine, was prepared. The complex lies across an inversion centre with the unique RhIIion in a slightly distorted octahedral coordination environment.
