"Abstract: The aim of this study is to examine the argumentation-based problem solving processes of 10th grade students in the context of quadratic equations. The study was carried out in a public high school in Istanbul. The study group consists of three male students selected by the method of “homogeneous sampling”. In the research, special case study, one of the qualitative research models, was used. The data in the application process were collected with two problem-solving activities related to quadratic equations. The students tried to solve the problems together by doing group work with one week interval for both problems. The problem solving processes of the students were recorded with the video recorder and the discussions between the students were analyzed according to Toulmin's argumentation model. According to the findings of the research, it was determined that the students used the argument (65), least rebuttal (3) and qualitative (3) components among the argumentation components. Students produced less arguments in the first problem solutions than the second problem. For this reason, differences were observed in students' ability to produce arguments according to the qualifications of the questions. In addition, after the argumentation study, the students stated that the problem solving process contributed in the context of understanding the problem for themselves, expressing their thoughts, persuading their opinions by defending their ideas, and communicating together and they want to be found again in similar working environments."

Students’ argumentation ability is necessary for education today, which emphasizes the student-centered learning process. One way to see students’ argumentation ability is by having a discussion. Therefore, this study aimed to describe the Toulmin argumentation process for students during focus group discussions (FGD). This research is qualitative. The data collection instrument used was an open-ended questionnaire assisted by Google Form that contained common problems of the distance learning process during a pandemic. The subjects of this study consisted of fifty students from the University of Mataram. The results showed that the argumentation process was divided into three categories. The first category was the one-sentence argument. There were 58 %, or 29 students, who belonged in this category. The second category was the two sentences argument. There are 30 %, or 15 students belonged in this category. Lastly, 12 % or six students belonged to the more than three sentence argument category. The results of this study indicated that many students could not provide complete arguments. Thus, the role of lecturers is significant to improve students’ ability in providing complete argumentations. Therefore, the researchers suggest that lecturers should apply learning models that invite students to argue and discuss.

Annotation of the corpus of Russian-language popular science texts is discussed. Particular attention is paid to the annotation scheme, in which the objects of annotation are not only pragmatic and semantic aspects of argumentation, but also their linguistic indicators. The presentation of argumentation indicators in the form of lexical and lexical-grammatical patterns is proposed, which are automatically generated from a marked-up fragment of text, and then, if necessary, are manually specified by an expert based on the results of a search in the corpus and analysis of all relevant fragments. The resulting dictionary of indicators is used to search and automatically highlight indicators of argumentation in unannotated text.

ABSTRACT The research aims to reinterpret the well-known of Al-Badee Arts, in view of the Argumentation theory, in order to observe the transformations of the meaning in some models of Poetry of Abu Al-Hasan Al-Husari Al-Qayrawani. The researcher used the applied descriptive method, to study the ways of the transformations of the meaning, and extracting some models from the poems, and analyzing them. Therefore the research reached some important conclusions which are: If the new rhetoric is interested in the embellishment, because it is an Important instrument to the creativeness and the persuasion, Al-Badee can develop the Argumentation study, especially if the poet is sincere in his sufferance, and also wishes to convey his message, such as Al-Husari who benefited from Al-Badee Arts, for the purpose of persuasion, proof, and inference. The poet was able to combine between the form and content. His interests in Al-Badee Arts revealed his desire to remove dust from speech, and give it the complete clarification, customization and justification, etc., generally, his employment of Al-Badde fits the meaning he is trying to form. The repetition of the poet for some elements isn't a proof of inability to apply others elements, or a desire to decorate the speech only, but because he was bound by this repetition for its influential importance. Keywords: Al-Badee, Meaning, Argumentation theory.
