The instability, rapid changes, and restrictions generated by the COVID-19 pandemic tested the provision of school meals in the Baltic Sea Region (BSR). School meal services were affected by factors such as full or partial lockdowns, strict hygiene regimes, lay-offs or staff shortages, stressful working environments, supply shortages, and changes to storing, cooking, and serving models. However, the responses to the COVID-19 crisis were highlighted by innovation, new opportunities, and cooperation. This paper reviews several examples of COVID-19 crisis management at school canteens in five BSR countries [Estonia, Finland, Poland, Russia (Saint Petersburg), and Sweden] between March 2020 and March 2021. The paper reveals the significant operational, logistical, and systemic problems that appeared because of the pandemic; the solutions and adaptations that were developed are also identified. The preparatory processes, logistics, and services that were adapted during the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in a new school meal provision model—a takeaway model; that includes similar features and unique characteristics across the different countries. Overall, the provision of school meals was carried out successfully in the BSR during the pandemic. Responsible, competent, and innovative professionals used their organizational skills, flexibility, and responsiveness to feed school pupils in a highly restricted and rapidly changing environment. It is expected that several of the COVID-19-driven innovations will remain in use following the pandemic.

In the paper the assessment of subjective productivity is presented as a function of indoor environment parameters on the example of students situated in the intelligent building. The volunteers in several different rooms (of various air temperature, humidity and CO2 concentration) filled in the questionnaires and assessed their current productivity. It might be related to both the educational performance and office work of low intensity. The physical parameters were measured with the microclimate high accuracy meter. The data obtained during the measurements of the indoor air parameters were compared with the subjective assessments of the volunteers and conclusions were drawn as to the impact of the working environment on the productivity of room users. The gathered experimental material might be useful for the building managers, so that proper indoor conditions within buildings might be applied that maximize productivity and working performance.

Architects’ approach towards colour in architectural design evolved radically in the recent 50 years, and ranges from a modernist aversion to a vernacular appreciation. These changes were linked to the development of culture, technology and scientific knowledge in different areas connected to human functioning. The authors have examined evolution in design of tall buildings in the Isle of Dogs in London (UK) since the 1980s. The area experienced major growth spurs in the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries, resulting in the greatest concentration of tall buildings in London today. The Island has been a playground for architects who have developed a range of approaches to the design of towers. The authors observed the evolution of architectural style, analyzed application of colour and made connections between scale, beauty and human behaviour. They concluded that colour in tall buildings’ architecture on the Isle of Dogs is predominantly used to disguise their massing. Colour detail facilitates the domestic feel of a public realm. Therefore, alongside decorative quality, and if considerately applied, colour may positively influence the quality of living and working environments.

Perusopetuksen käsityön oppiaine on uudistunut opetussuunnitelmallisesti ja käsityön oppimis- ja työympäristöjen tilaratkaisut vaativat uudenlaista pohdintaa. Tässä tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan käsityötä opettavien opettajien (N = 11) näkemyksiä heidän omiin kokemuksiinsa perustuen. Näkemyksiä taustoitetaan käsityön suunnittelu- ja valmistusprosessin luonteeseen, fyysisen oppimis- ja työympäristön erityispiirteisiin ja tilasuunnittelun periaatteisiin liittyen. Tilasuunnittelussa suunnitellaan ja toteutetaan fyysistä oppimis- ja työympäristöä lähtökohtaisesti pedagogisen suunnitelman pohjalta. Aineistolähtöiseen sisällönanalyysiin perustuen opettajat tarkastelivat käsityön fyysisen oppimis- ja työympäristön kehittämistä tilasuunnittelun osalta kolmen pääluokan avulla: käsityötilojen rakenne ja sijoittuminen, kalusteet ja välineet sekä opettajien osallisuus ja resurssit tilasuunnittelussa. Tutkimuksen tulokset korostavat opettajien osallistumisen tärkeyttä tilasuunnittelussa sen alkuvaiheista lähtien. Opetussuunnitelma vaihtuu kymmenen vuoden välein, mutta käsityön tilasuunnittelun ratkaisut tehdään vuosikymmeniksi.   Towards new learning and working environments in Craft, Design and Technology education – Teachers' views on planning and construction Abstract In Finland the curriculum of subject Craft, Design and Technology (CDT) education is renewed and there is a need to reconsider how to plan and construct learning and working environments in the future. This study bases on the CDT education teachers' views (N = 11) on workspace and workshop planning and construction. The content analysis based on interview data revealed that teachers consider space planning construction as a combination of structure and placement in schools, as a combination of equipment, tools and furniture and their own possibilities to participate in the planning process. It would be very important to invite teachers to be part of a space planning and construction process as early as possible to avoid pedagogically fatal mistakes and problems in construction of physical spaces. Abstract Investment castings often have surface impurities and pieces of shell molds can remain on the surface after sandblasting. Identification of defects involves time-consuming manual inspections in working environments of high noise and poor air quality. To reduce labor costs and increase the health and safety of employees, we applied automated optical inspection (AOI) combined with a deep learning framework based on convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to the detection of sandblasting defects. We applied the following four classic CNN models for training and predictive classification: AlexNet, VGG-16, GoogLeNet, and ResNet-34. In terms of predictive classification, AlexNet, VGG-16, and GoogLeNet v1 could accurately determine whether there were defects. Among the four models, AlexNet was the most accurate, with prediction accuracy of 99.53% for qualifying products and 100% for defective products. We demonstrate a direct detection technique based on the AOI and CNN structure with a fast and flexible computational interface.

Abstract Oil & Gas offshore platforms are industrial "towns", ranked among the most hazardous working environments. Emergency situations in such environments are unpredictable and characterized by time pressure and rapidly changing conditions. OffshoreMuster brings together the latest technological advancements in real-time personnel tracking and e-mustering, complementing the existing Health and Safety (HSE) procedures, by enabling situation awareness over personnel location and status which is a key factor supporting better decision-making towards zero casualty in emergency situations. The system's underlying technology, developed after years of dedicated research and development efforts, consists of specialised low-power wireless wearable devices, customised gateways and a secure backbone network infrastructure feeding a modular decision support software system with real-time streams of data for processing and visualisation of information relevant to personnel situation assessment. HSE processes have been transformed into systematic procedures, allowing additional computer-aided decision support features, like the real-time observation of the fire-fighting team response status, the concentration of people in specific areas, instant alerting or the last-known position of a missing person. Lightweight ubiquitous devices in the form of a bracelet or embedded in the uniform are assigned to People on Board (PoB) and periodically transmit real-time location and status awareness data. A network of dedicated gateways, which are placed at specific locations on the platform or vessel, connected through the infrastructure's ethernet or wireless network, relay the data to a central decision support system. Specialised localisation algorithms and data analytics tools process the data to estimate the personnel positions and PoB status information, interactively visualising in real-time location awareness, incident escalation and alerting, which can significantly reduce response time and speed up a safe evacuation procedure. Computer-aided decision support combined with ultra-low power autonomous IoT technologies systems play a significant role in controlling, managing, and preventing critical incidents in harsh working environments, contributing into minimisation of accidents occurrence in Oil & Gas environments. The presented underling technology has been validated in maritime environments with more than 500 people taking part in real drills (TRL-8). The technology has been tailored to enhance the safety of personnel working in offshore Oil & Gas assets, currently being under laboratory testing and evaluation while a full-scale industrial deployment is scheduled for the autumn of 2021. The OffshoreMuster hardware and software components, integrated into a unified solution tailored for the offshore Oil & Gas industry, are presented for the first time. The system has been designed and developed with the support of the European Commission, co-funded by the Fast Track to Innovation Program (Grant Agreement Number 878950).

The security challenges for Communication and Information Systems in Albania include all levels of the structures of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces, starting from the individual equipment used in official working environments, to the provision of basic systems, which are critical to job performance. Some of the challenges that characterize this situation and their orientation for the future include: Th increasing threats in cyberspace, internet and mobile devices, social networks and portals, communication and transmission of information, creating a cybercrime market, espionage and sabotage, privacy and identity, anonymity and attributes, financial constraints, asymmetry of cyber warfare, etc. These will be some of the issues that this paper will try to address with reference to domestic and foreign literature, national and international legislation on cybercrime.

Accelerated testing (AT) is an effective testing method for evaluating the reliability of highly reliable products. In many applications, such products are often subject to multiple stresses in actual working environments. Then, how to design the load spectra for multi-stress AT becomes a critical issue. In this paper, a new load spectra design method is proposed to overcome this challenge. Considering the properties of multiple stresses, a novel multi-stress loading matrix (MSLM) is modified to fully describe the load spectra in actual working environments and to generate the corresponding load spectra for AT. For illustration purposes, an inverse Gaussian (IG) process incorporating life-stress relationships is adopted to model product degradation under multiple stresses. A case study on a type of hydraulic piston pump is provided to demonstrate the use of the proposed method in guiding the load spectra design for multi-stress AT.

Separation of strategic approaches and morals prompted various business outrages and untrustworthy practices in working environments. This encouraged researchers and practice holders to examine significance of ethical quality at work environment. In particular, the job that moral chiefs play in advancing positive representative practices is urgent. This examination article has featured the part of moral innovators in molding whistleblowing goals of their subordinates. Alongside, this exploration article has likewise researched the part of good character. An aggregate of four speculations, analyzing the immediate impact of moral initiative on moral personality and whistleblowing expectations and meditational job of good character were proposed. This exploration article embraced a period slacked research article plan and gathered data from representative friend dyads at three focuses on schedule. Number of respondents was 214; Cross-sectional technique was used for data collection. Respondents were selected from different services organizations from Multan. Data was analysed on SPSS and AMOS. Results were obtained by applying reliability test, ANOVA, Correlation test, and regression test by using PROCESS Macro. Results gained verified that the role of ethical leaders in shaping moral identity of employees as well as their whistleblowing intentions. The findings suggest that employees working under ethical leaders are inclined to stand up against malevolent and unethical practices taking place at their workplace. Thus, organizations must hire leaders with higher ethical inclinations and also train the existing leaders about importance of ethics. Moreover, this research article has highlighted multiple avenues for future research.
