Abstract We are interested in the extension for the concept of complete colouring for oriented graph G → that has been proposed in many different notions by several authors (Edwards, Sopena, and Araujo-Pardo in 2013, 2014, and 2018, respectively). An oriented colouring is complete if for every ordered pair of colours, at least one arc in G → whose endpoints are coloured with these colours. The diachromatic number, dac ( G → ) , is the greatest number of colours in a complete oriented colouring. In this paper, we establish the formula of diachromatic numbers for double star graph, k 1 , n , n → , over all possible orientations on the graph. In particular, if din (u) = 0 (resp. dout(u) = 0)and din (wi ) = 1 (resp. dout (w 1) = 1) for all i, then dac ( k 1 , n , n → ) = ⌊ n ⌋ + 1 , where u is the internal vertex and w i , i ∈ {1,…, n}, is the pendant vertices of the digraph.

A graph is said to be total-colored if all the edges and vertices of the graph are colored. A path in a total-colored graph is a total proper path if (i) any two adjacent edges on the path differ in color, (ii) any two internal adjacent vertices on the path differ in color, and (iii) any internal vertex of the path differs in color from its incident edges on the path. A total-colored graph is called total-proper connected if any two vertices of the graph are connected by a total proper path of the graph. For a connected graph [Formula: see text], the total proper connection number of [Formula: see text], denoted by [Formula: see text], is defined as the smallest number of colors required to make [Formula: see text] total-proper connected. In this paper, we study the total proper connection number for the graph operations. We find that 3 is the total proper connection number for the join, the lexicographic product and the strong product of nearly all graphs. Besides, we study three kinds of graphs with one factor to be traceable for the Cartesian product as well as the permutation graphs of the star and traceable graphs. The values of the total proper connection number for these graphs are all [Formula: see text].

AbstractWe consider the Sturm–Liouville operator on quantum graphs with a loop with the standard matching conditions in the internal vertex and the jump conditions at the boundary vertex. Given the potential on the loop, we try to recover the potential on the boundary edge from the subspectrum. The uniqueness theorem and a constructive algorithm for the solution of this partial inverse problem are provided.

For a connected graph $G$, the distance matrix is a real-symmetric matrix where the $(u,v)$-entry is the distance between vertex $u$ and vertex $v$ in $G$. The distance spectral radius of $G$ is the largest eigenvalue of the distance matrix. A series-reduced tree is a tree with at least one internal vertex and all internal vertices having degree at least three. Those series-reduced trees that maximize the distance spectral radius are determined over all series-reduced trees with fixed order and maximum degree and over all series-reduced trees with fixed order and domination number, respectively.

A set [Formula: see text] is called an open detour set of [Formula: see text] if for each vertex [Formula: see text] in [Formula: see text], either (1) [Formula: see text] is a detour simplicial vertex of [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] or (2) [Formula: see text] is an internal vertex of an [Formula: see text]-[Formula: see text] detour for some [Formula: see text]. An open detour set of minimum cardinality is called a minimum open detour set and this cardinality is the open detour number of [Formula: see text], denoted by [Formula: see text]. Connected graphs of order [Formula: see text] with open detour number [Formula: see text] or [Formula: see text] are characterized. It is shown that for any two positive integers [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] with [Formula: see text], there exists a connected graph [Formula: see text] such that [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text], where [Formula: see text] is the detour number of [Formula: see text]. It is also shown that for every pair of positive integers [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] with [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text], there exists a connected graph [Formula: see text] such that [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text], where [Formula: see text] is the open geodetic number of [Formula: see text].

AbstractA graph with loops, endowed with standard matching conditions in the internal vertex and with Dirichlet boundary conditions at the boundary vertices, is considered. We show that the potential on a graph with loops can be constructed by the dense nodal points on the interval considered. Moreover, we investigate the so-called incomplete inverse problems of recovering the potential on a fixed edge from a subset of nodal points situated only on a part of the edge.

We study the Sturm-Liouville operator on a noncompact star-type graph consisting of a finite number of compact and noncompact edges under standard matching conditions in the internal vertex. We introduce and investigate the so-called spectral-scat\-tering data, which generalize the classical spectral data for the Sturm-Liouville operator on the half-line and the scattering data on the line. Developing the idea of the method of spectral mappings we prove that the specification of the spectral-scattering data uniquely determines the Sturm-Liouville operator on the graph.

In this work, we consider the spectral problem for differential pencils on a star-type graph with a Kirchhoff-type condition in the internal vertex. The regularized trace formula of this operator is established with the contour integration method in complex analysis.
