Nino Giorgadze

Roland Giorgadze regularly publishes his poetry and prose in Georgian literary journals and newspapers and thus humbly contributes to the development of Georgian literary processes. The bulk of his work is presented by the following publications: Dream President (2001), The Road (2011), The Cry (2017) and Diso, Diso (2020).This time we are dealing with the novel Diso, Diso. Here, the writer described life in Georgia in the 90-ies of the 20th century in gloomy, yet, very realistic colors without any embellishment. Some very accurate stresses are made upon the poor spiritual state of the country and upon the tragic reality it causes. The novel tries to show the deplorable reasons why a human being in this ideal-free society is doomed to become degraded even if they experience a rise (before a fall). The evil has a new beginning and life in every epoch and this new beginning is presented through the character of Elepter in the novel. The novel has a slightly documentary hue. The author openly discusses all the problems. His political flair is infallible and he has a good sense of judging and evaluating current events. All walks of life are branded with the mark of a country not properly attended. Human values and selfless love for one’s homeland are no longer priorities. Diso, Diso is full of didactic maxims that clearly show the life experience of the author, his adherence to lofty values. Roland Giorgadze understands well the purpose of a literary work and that is why all his words and phrases are loaded with meaning. The author manages to convey a meaningful message is a compressed, verbally laconic way. The writer uncovers the dramatic scenes of spiritual poverty marked with time, existential details of economical squalor, that cause the fear of national endangerment and the threat of looming genocide. The criticizing and uncovering the national and state faults should not be understood as self-flagellation. It aims at making readers think and also reminding them about the importance of moral life, being close to the creator, about love and the good of forgiving. The author sees the preserving national identity through religious faith. He also sets the ways of coping with these problems in this gloomy scene of national and religious degeneration. To our judgment, Diso, Diso is an interesting publication on the current literary scene and we hope it will get the attention of both general readers and literary critics.

Over the Book “Bogdaj” Bitola. [For the publisher Tomislav Karadžić; consultant Mirjana Glišović; technical arrangement Dušan Solujić Sole]. Vraćevšnica [— Gornji Milanovac: Grafoprint], 2019. 158 pp. The charitable activity of Bishop Nicholai Velimirovich is little known. Although his work and service from the time before the First World War until the end of his life was associated with various charitable activities, his care for the needy and his engagement in the field of charity mostly escaped the attention of researchers, who focused their research firstly on his national work, dealing with the charitable dimensions of Velimirovich’s activities arrogantly, more often only lightly or not at all. However, the charitable activity of Bishop Nicholai Velimirovich was one of his primary activities, expressed in different ways: through efforts to collect humanitarian aid during World War I, then through the establishment of various charitable funds and societies, in the interwar period through the establishment of the church charities, feeding houses for the poor, homes for children, homes for the elderly — in dioceses where he served as a bishop and administrator, or in monasteries in his vicinity, and in the period after World War II especially through care for displaced persons and refugees (among other things through work in international church organizations), care for surviving prisoners of war and detainees who could not return to their homes, and especially through care for poor believers in the new Yugoslavia — expressed through his constant care to deliver humanitarian aid from the Western world to the unwilling in the homeland. The mentioned Bishop Nicholai’s activities have not been sufficiently researched, and it would be very interesting if in the future they would be the subject of a more thorough study, i.e. if the charitable aspect of Bishop Nicholai’s actions and ministry would be clarified. In a small number of publications and studies in which certain attention is paid to the charitable activity of Bishop Nicholai, however, several articles stand out about the Children’s Foster Home of St. Nicholas “Bogdaj,” which operated under the direction of Nadežda — in monasticism Ana — Adžić in Bitola from 1935 to the beginning of World War II in the area, i.e. until the occupation in 1941. In addition to texts and materials from churchly periodicals, the first notable publication dedicated to “Bogdaj” through which the public had the opportunity to learn about the existence and activities of this charity was the diary of mother Ana Adžić, published among the articles for the biography of Bishop Nicholai in the 1st volume of the Collected Works of Nicholai Velimirovich, i.e. in the 2nd edition of the 1st volume, printed in 2013. An interesting publication about “Bogdaj,” published in 2019, is coming from the Vraćevšnica monastery. This is the edition of the notebook of mother Ana Adžić, hegumenia of the Vraćevšnica monastery, who, as sister Nada, was invited by Bishop Nicholai in Bitola in 1935. She took over the management of the newly established Children’s Foster Home of St. Nicholas — “Bogdaj.” Namely, Sister Nada managed this institution until 1941, when after the outbreak of World War II and after the Bulgarian occupation, she had to leave Bitola. She later continued her humanitarian work and mission in Kraljevo and Trstenik. The Vraćevšnica sisterhood copied this notebook in 1976, thus preserving this valuable testimony from oblivion.

The year of 2017 starts with good news to JIS. It was classified as B3 in the Qualis index for the Computer Science area. Qualis is the journal classification index of CAPES (Brazilian governmental agency for improvement of higher education personnel), and the classification refers to the period of 2013-2016. In the previous period, JIS was classified as B4. This indicates that JIS is being increasingly recognized as an interesting publication vehicle. JIS is also included in Qualis for other areas, such as Engineering, Mathematics/Statistics, Biotechnology, Communication & Information, and Interdisciplinary area. This is an important achievement for us, and certainly motivates us to keep working hard to attract good quality papers and authors.Another important news in 2017 is the participation of Dr. Cléber Gimenez Corrêa, from University of São Paulo, who joint us as JIS Assistant Editor. His work has been fundamental to prepare this one and the following issues. I would like to warmly welcome him! This first issue of JIS in 2017 contains extended versions of five papers selected among the best full papers of SBGames 2014 --- XIII Brazilian Symposium on Games and Digital Entertainment. I would like to thank the authors and Esteban Clua, for acting as guest editor for this special issue, and invite you to read his editorial in the following. In line with the theme of the special issue, we also have in this issue an original paper by Marcelo Zamith, Luis Valente, Bruno Feijó, Mark Joselli, and Esteban Clua, entitled "Parallel game architectures with tardiness policy and workload balance". The authors developed an adaptive game loop architecture based on tardiness control to adapt task operation according to the current hardware load conditions at a given moment. Their adaptive game loop is able to create game task list scheduling, considering multi-core processors.I would like to thank the authors and reviewers that contributed to this issue of JIS, and I hope it fulfills your expectations. JIS Editorial Board is looking forward to receiving your contributions.

Change, we are assured by the best authorities, is good for us, and somewhat belatedly, beginning our eighth year of publication, we are undertaking the journalistic equivalent of an ocean voyage. Through the kindness of the Grant Foundation which has underwritten the journal for a period of three years, we are now able to take some of the steps we think will lead to a marked improvement. Of necessity, this will involve considerable experimentation, but with the cooperation of our readers and contributors, we hope we will achieve a more useful and interesting publication within a very short time.
