AbstractIn this paper, the concept of probabilistic g-metric space with degree l, which is a generalization of probabilistic G-metric space, is introduced. Then, by endowing strong topology, the definition of l-dimensional asymptotic density of a subset A of $\mathbb{N}^{l}$ N l is used to introduce a statistically convergent and Cauchy sequence and to study some basic facts.

We introduce the notions of strongly $\lambda$-statistically pre-Cauchy and strongly Vall´ee-Poussin pre-Cauchy sequences in probabilistic metric spaces endowed with strong topology. And we show that these two new notions are equivalent. Strongly $\lambda$-statistically convergent sequences are strongly $\lambda$-statistically pre-Cauchy sequences, and we give an example to show that there is a sequence in a probabilistic metric space which is strongly $\lambda$-statistically pre-Cauchy but not strongly $\lambda$-statistically convergent.

Following the line of (Das et al., 2011, Savas and Das, 2011), we make a new approach in this paper to extend the notion of strong convergence and more general strong statistical convergence (Şençimen and Pehlivan, 2008) using ideals and introduce the notion of strongℐ- andℐ*-statistical convergence and two related concepts, namely, strongℐ-lacunary statistical convergence and strongℐ-λ-statistical convergence in a probabilistic metric space endowed with strong topology. We mainly investigate their interrelationship and study some of their important properties.

The strong* topology s*(X) of a Banach space X is defined as the locally convex topology generated by the seminorms x ↦ ‖Sx‖ for bounded linear maps S from X into Hilbert spaces. The w-right topology for X, ρ(X), is a stronger locally convex topology, which may be analogously characterized by taking reflexive Banach spaces in place of Hilbert spaces. For any Banach space Y , a linear map T : X → Y is known to be weakly compact precisely when T is continuous from the w-right topology to the norm topology of Y. The main results deal with conditions for, and consequences of, the coincidence of these two topologies on norm bounded sets. A large class of Banach spaces, including all C*-algebras and, more generally, all JB*-triples, exhibit this behaviour.
