PRESERVATION STATE OF A SELECTED OLD PRINTS KEPT IN THE JAGIELLONIAN LIBRARY – COLLECTIONS OF THE OLD PRINTS OF THE CAMALDOLESE HERMITS FROM BIENISZEW, PRINCES OF THE SANGUSZKO FAMILY, AND FRANCISCAN REFORMATES FROM BIECZ The work presents results of research on preservation state of three chosen book collections kept in the Jagiellonian Library in Krakow, i.e. The book collections of the Camaldolese Hermits from Bieniszew, princes of the Sanguszko family, and Franciscan Reformates from Biecz. The studies were made with instruments of the methodology of mixed research on the basis of quantitative data obtained by the scoring system method according to a scale. The results were used as a basis for creating the generall ibrarianship model of the evaluation of preservation state of old prints kept in different institutions (public and cloister libraries, private collections). For this model, the following components were defined: structure, list of parameters of book destructions for the assessment in two modes (extended and simplified), as well as significance of the whole list. Furthermore, an optimal scheme of the processing of data, their interpretation and visualisation was proposed. The librarianship model of the evaluation of preservation state of old prints may be used for the determination of conservation work priorities in libraries, assessment of expenditures and obtaining funds for conservation. In this way, it can be used for preservation of the future of cultural property.

Issues of the organization of the work on the rehabilitation of children with loco-motor pathology are reviewed on the example of St. Petersburg Rehabilitation Center "Ogonyok". The tasks of such centres include the conservative treatment of children with loco-motor system pathology with simultaneous provision of education process. The structure, list of members of staff as well as characteristics of the material and technical basis including therapeutic and diagnostic units are presented. The advantages of the rehabilitation centers over specialized health centers are shown.

We discuss evidence in Halkomelem, a Coast Salish language of British Columbia, which supports the hypothesis put forward by Manning and Sag (1999) that a universal passive argument structure (ARG-ST) is complex and has two a-subjects. We argue that morphological and syntactic control phenomena in Halkomelem are best described by saying that an a-subject is accessible, where an a-subject is the first argument on an argument structure list. ARG-ST <bi <a, Proi, ...>> The Halkomelem passive data show that two notions of subject are essential for capturing control phenomena. One set of constructions-motion auxiliaries, desideratives, and reflexive causatives-involve linking to the internal a-subject. One construction-the control construction–links to either the highest a-subject or the internal a-subject. Similar conclusions have been drawn for data from Russian (Perlmutter 1984), Philippine languages (Schachter 1984), and other languages of the world. As Manning and Sag (1998) point out, one does not have to draw the conclusion that passive must be given a multilevel syntactic analysis from such data. Rather, their analysis of passive, which posits a complex argument structure, easily accounts for Halkomelem. Control facts in Halkomelem, with examples drawn from both morphological and syntactic constructions, can be added to the catalog of phenomenon that support this view of the passive.
