Pieris rapaeL., an invasive crop pest, may have recently begun usingAlliaria petiolataBieb. (Cavara & Grande), a European invasive biennial. We investigated howP. rapaeuses forest habitats for nectar and oviposition and examined larval performance onA. petiolatain the field and laboratory. Being known primarily to occupy open habitats, we found thatP. rapaeregularly uses forest edge habitats, most surveyedA. petiolataplants hadP. rapaedamage, andP. rapaesuccessfully used both stages ofA. petiolatafor larval development.
