The reaction in methanol of CuII acetate monohydrate with 5-fluoroisatin 3-oxime deprotonated with KOH in a 1:2 molar ratio and recrystallization from pyridine yielded the title compound, [Cu(C8H4FN2O2)2(C5H5N)2]. In the centrosymmetric complex, the anionic form of the isatin oxime acts as a κ2 N,O donor, building five-membered metallarings. The CuII cation is sixfold coordinated in a slightly distorted octahedral environment by two trans, equatorial, anionic isatin derivatives and two trans pyridine ligands in axial positions. The complexes are linked by hydrogen bonding into a three-dimensional network, which is also stabilized by π–π stacking interactions [centroid-to-centroid distance = 3.7352 (9) Å] and C—H...π contacts. The Hirshfeld surface analysis indicates that the major contributions for the crystal packing are H...H (31.80%), H...C (24.30%), H...O (15.20%) and H...F (10.80%). This work is the second report in the literature of a crystal structure of a coordination compound with isatin 3-oxime ligands (coordination chemistry).

Indole and its derivatives have engaged a unique place in the chemistry of nitrogen heterocyclic compounds. The recognition of the plant growthhormone, heteroauxin, the significant amino acids, tryptamine & tryptophan and anti-inflammatory drug, indomethacine are the imperativederivatives of indole which have added stimulus to this review work. Isatin (1H-indole-2,3-dione), an indole derivative of plant origin. Althoughit is a naturally occurring compound, but was synthesized by Erdmann and Laurent in 1840 before it was found in nature. Isatin is a versatileprecursor for many biologically active molecules and its diversified nature makes it a versatile substrate for further modifications. It is concernedin many pharmacological activities like anti-malarial, antiviral, anti-allergic, antimicrobial etc; isatin and its derivatives have been also found todemonstrate promising outcomes against various cancer cell lines. This review provides a brief overview on the recent advances and futureperspectives on chemistry and biological aspects of isatin and its derivatives reported in the recent past.

A series of β-Isatin aldehyde-N,N′-thiocarbohydrazone derivatives were synthesized and assayed for theirin vitroantimicrobial and antioxidant activity. The new compounds were characterized based on spectral (FT-IR, NMR, MS) analyses. All the test compounds possessed a broad spectrum of activity having MIC values rangeing from 12.5 to 400 μg/ml against the tested microorganisms. Among the compounds3e,3jand3nshow highest significant antimicrobial activity. The free radical scavenging effects of the test compounds against stable free radical DPPH (α,α-diphenyl-β-picryl hydrazyl) and H2O2were measured spectrophotometrically. Compounds3j,3n,3l, and3e, respectively, had the most effective antioxidant activity against DPPH and H2O2scavenging activity.

In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Ni(C2N3)2(C5H5N)4], the NiII cations are coordinated by four pyridine ligands and two dicyanamide anions into discrete complexes. The shortest Ni...Ni separation is 8.1068 (10) Å. The structure is pseudo-centrosymmetric and can also be refined in the space group C2/c in which both anionic ligands are strongly disordered and the refinement leads to significantly poorer reliability factors.
