Clinical Relevance Complete removal of the collagen matrix prior to dentin bonding procedures has been proposed as a strategy to prevent later degradation, which may jeopardize the longevity of resin-dentin bonds. This study demonstrates that a complete removal of the exposed collagen matrix from the etched dentin surface can be achieved by applying a 12 w/v% NaOCl solution, but at this concentration, it requires a far longer reaction time than is clinically acceptable.
