Due to excellent mechanical properties and high working efficiency, FRP sheet has attracted significant attention from the field of strengthening in civil engineering. This paper summarizes the current achievements in the FRP strengthened reinforced concrete beams under fatigue loading. The review and discussion focuses on the development of fatigue design, the fatigue failure mechanism, reinforcement methods,and environmental effects. Finally, it puts forward the main research directions in this field in the future.

Concrete fatigue strain evolution plays a very important role in the evaluation of the material properties of concrete. To study fatigue strain and fatigue damage of concrete in reinforced concrete beams under constant amplitude bending fatigue loading, constant amplitude bending fatigue experiments with reinforced concrete beams with rectangular sections were first carried out in the laboratory. Then, by analyzing the shortcomings and limitations of existing fatigue strain evolution equations, the level-S nonlinear evolution model of fatigue strain was constructed, and the physical meaning of the parameters was discussed. Finally, the evolution of fatigue strain and fatigue damage of concrete in the compression zone of the experimental beam was analyzed based on the level-S nonlinear evolution model. The results show that, initially, fatigue strain grows rapidly. In the middle stages, fatigue strain is nearly a linear change. Because the experimental data for the third stage are relatively scarce, the evolution of the strain therefore degenerated into two phases. The model has strong adaptability and high accuracy and can reflect the evolution of fatigue strain. The fatigue damage evolution expression based on fatigue strain shows that fatigue strain and fatigue damage have similar variations, and, with the same load cycles, the greater the load level, the larger the damage, in line with the general rules of damage.

The paper reports the results of a comparative analysis of the experimental shear capacity obtained from the tests of reinforced concrete beams with various static schemes, loading modes and programs, and the shear capacity calculated using selected models. Single-span and two-span reinforced concrete beams under monotonic and cyclic loads were considered in the analysis. The computational models were selected based on their application to engineering practice, i.e., the approaches implemented in the European and US provisions. Due to the changing strength characteristics of concrete, the analysis was also focused on concrete contribution in the shear capacity of reinforced concrete beams in the cracked phase and on the angle of inclination of diagonal struts. During the laboratory tests, a modern ARAMIS digital image correlation (DIC) system was used for tracking the formation and development of diagonal cracks.

Reinforced concrete (RC) structures are widely used in civil engineering for their merits. A good-quality concrete provides a highly alkaline environment that forms a passive film on reinforcement surface, preventing steel bars from corroding. Due to chloride attack or concrete carbonization, corrosion of embedded reinforcement in concrete members is common for RC structures. Much importance should be attached to the fatigue of corroded concrete bridges because they bear not only static loads but also alternate loads. Followed along with the aging of bridge structures, the increase of traffic volumes, the augment of vehicle loads as well as the deterioration of service environment, many corroded concrete bridges are urgently needed security appraisal and residual fatigue life forecast. Fatigue of corroded RC beams is a key problem for the existing corrosion-damaged concrete bridges. But the interrelated research was little. Based on the most new study information, the production on fatigue of corroded concrete beams was listed and analyzed, and the problems on fatigue of corroded concrete beams were indicated.
