In order to realize information sharing and interchange of complex product multidisciplinary collaborative design (MCD) design process and resources. The Process integrated system control of product multidisciplinary collaborative design was analyzed firstly in this paper, then design process of complex product for supporting multidisciplinary collaborative was introduced, a detailed description is given of the organization structure and modeling process of MCD-oriented Integration of Product Design Meta-model ; and concrete implement process of process integrated system control method was introduced to effectively realize information sharing and interchange between product design process and resources.

In order to deal with complex product design optimization problems with both discrete and continuous variables, mix-variable collaborative design optimization algorithm is put forward based on collaborative optimization, which is an efficient way to solve mix-variable design optimization problems. On the rule of “divide and rule”, the algorithm decouples the problem into some relatively simple subsystems. Then by using collaborative mechanism, the optimal solution is obtained. Finally, the result of a case shows the feasibility and effectiveness of the new algorithm.

Concept selection is the most critical aspect of the entire product development process. However, many industries are not aware of this, or they might not possess essential knowledge about concept selection. Thus, this study aims to identify the concept selection method used by a series of particular areas within the manufacturing industry. In this study, the researcher conducted interviews with six managers from various production areas in the manufacturing industry. Then, the obtained data were analyzed qualitatively. The concept selection methods used for product design and development in the manufacturing industry were found to be based on various factors, including orders received, building and evaluating prototypes, discussion among executives, market demand, trial and error and the market’s standard deviation. This study serves as a guideline to help managers to evaluate concepts in a more practical way.

User requirements play an important role in product design activities. Customer satisfaction has a direct bearing on the acquisition of user requirements for product design. However, these implicit requirements are equipped with the attributes of potentiality, fuzziness, and subjectivity. In this paper, a new implicit user requirement processing method based on a cloud service platform is proposed to resolve the difficulty of acquiring implicit requirements. Initially, this method collects user requirement data via a metaphor extraction technique using a cloud service platform. Then, the requirement data are clustered and mapped with product attributes. Finally, the mapping results are visualized to intuitively instruct product design and optimization. Overall, the method is a user-centered innovation paradigm implemented on a cloud service platform to realize collaborative design and resource sharing. Finally, an application case is presented to illustrate the method, and the results indicate that the method is effective and could serve as a reference for product design.
