Log-linear models are an appropriate means of determining the magnitude and direction of interactions between categorical variables that in common with other statistical models assume independent observations. Spatial data are often dependent rather than independent and thus the analysis of spatial data by log-linear models may erroneously detect interactions between variables that are spurious and are the consequence of pairwise correlations between observations. A procedure is described in this paper to accommodate these effects that requires only very minimal assumptions about the nature of the autocorrelation process given systematic sampling at intersection points on a square lattice.

<p>Celem<strong> </strong>artykułu jest ujawnienie powiązania trzech bliskich pojęć językowych: arealogii, stratygrafii i krajobrazu ojkonimicznego. Zadania, ze względu na ich cel, były następujące: 1) opisać teoretyczne podstawy arealogii, stratygrafii i krajobrazu ojkonimicznego; 2) dokonać analizy ojkonimów (nazw miejscowych) z XV wieku kończących się na *-j- w celu zilustrowania punktów teoretycznych. Podstawą analizy był diachroniczny materiał ojkonimiczny Ukrainy. W artykule wykorzystano metody empiryczne i opisowe, co oznaczało odwołanie się do mało znanego ojkonimicznego materiału odniesienia – zastosowano historyczną metodę porównawczą analizy rzeczowników właściwych. Metoda stratygraficzna objęła charakterystykę ilościową, lokalizację przestrzenną nazw geograficznych oraz określenie chronologii ojkonimów. Za pomocą metody kartograficznej zbadano grupę ojkonimów z XV wieku kończących się na *-j-. Tak więc arealogia, stratygrafia i pejzaż ojkonimiczny połączone są jedną koncepcją – przestrzenią, tj. rozprzestrzenianie się jakiegoś zjawiska (w naszych badaniach są to nazwy z XV w. kończące się na *-j-) jest wizualizowane na mapie topologicznej, która rejestruje rozprzestrzenianie się zjawiska (areał ojkonimów (nazw miejscowych) z XV wieku kończących się na *-j-) w diachronii (lub na pewnym etapie chronologicznym – XV wiek (stratygrafia) na terytorium Ukrainy; krajobraz częściowy, gdyż nazwy kończące się na *-j- to tylko niewielka część ogólnego krajobrazu ojkonimicznego). To właśnie mapa topologiczna potwierdza obszar ojkonimów (nazw miejscowych) na jednym z chronologicznych etapów stratygrafii w granicach terytorialnych krajobrazów ojkonimicznych (patrz mapa topologiczna). </p>

Single circular targets are widely used as calibration objects during line-structured light three-dimensional (3D) measurements because they are versatile and easy to manufacture. This paper proposes a new calibration method for line-structured light 3D measurements based on a single circular target. First, the target is placed in several positions and illuminated by a light beam emitted from a laser projector. A camera captures the resulting images and extracts an elliptic fitting profile of the target and the laser stripe. Second, an elliptical cone equation defined by the elliptic fitting profile and optical center of the camera is established based on the projective geometry. By combining the obtained elliptical cone and the known diameter of the circular target, two possible positions and orientations of the circular target are determined and two groups of 3D intersection points between the light plane and the circular target are identified. Finally, the correct group of 3D intersection points is filtered and the light plane is progressively fitted. The accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed method are verified both theoretically and experimentally. The obtained results indicate that a calibration accuracy of 0.05 mm can be achieved for an 80 mm × 80 mm planar target.

Abstract Understanding of dynamical behavior in the parameter-state space plays a vital role in the optimal design and motion control of mechanical governor systems. By combining the GPU parallel computing technique with two determinate indicators, namely, the Lyapunov exponents and Poincaré section, this paper presents a detailed study on the two-parameter dynamics of a mechanical governor system with different time delays. By identifying different system responses in two-parameter plane, it is shown that the complexity of evolutionary process can increase significantly with the increase of time delay. The path-following strategy and the time domain collocation method are used to explore the details of the evolutionary process. An interesting phenomenon is found in the dynamical behavior of the delayed governor system, which can cause the inconsistency between the number of intersection points of certain periodic response on Poincaré section and the actual period characteristic. For example, the commonly exhibited period-1 orbit may have two or more intersection points on the Poincaré section instead of one point. Furthermore, the variations of basins of attraction are also discussed in the plane of initial history conditions to demonstrate the observed multistability phenomena and chaotic transitions.

AbstractWe study Lp → Lr restriction estimates for algebraic varieties V in the case when restriction operators act on radial functions in the finite field setting. We show that if the varieties V lie in odd dimensional vector spaces over finite fields, then the conjectured restriction estimates are possible for all radial test functions. In addition, assuming that the varieties V are defined in even dimensional spaces and have few intersection points with the sphere of zero radius, we also obtain the conjectured exponents for all radial test functions.
