Rapid smoking is generally considered to be the most effective single treatment strategy for the behavioral control of smoking. Unfortunately, its safety has recently been questioned. A new procedure termed focused smoking poses absolutely no health hazard. Six month follow-up data collected from two groups of subjects exposed to a comprehensive treatment program which included focused smoking are noteworthy in their own right (55.6% abstentions) and just as promising as earlier versions of the program which included rapid smoking as a treatment component.

Reinforced concrete ribbed arch bridges are applied widely in China, especially in mountain areas of southwest China. After many years of operation, some distresses and damages occur of this kind of bridges. There are 100 bridges of this style are generally surveyed and 49 of them with typical distresses are investigated in details on site. Based on it, characteristics and rules of distresses are classified and summed up, and the reasons of them occurrence are analyzed. This process is expected to provide reference and evidence for design, construction, maintenance and strengthening of this kind of bridges, and establish a foundation for further research.

ABSTRACT Fetal anemia is a recognizable and treatable condition. It requires identification of the etiology to plan a comprehensive treatment strategy. Fetal blood transfusions help tide over crisis and avert fetal cardiovascular decompensation or deterioration due to the anemia. Based on the cause and the fetal condition, the timing and requirement for transfusion are determined. At present, noninvasive monitoring with fetal middle cerebral arterial Doppler peak systolic velocity is the standard for monitoring and diagnosis of fetal anemia. Deformation process of slope has been controlled by a variety of factors due to the unique geological, hydrological and meteorological conditions. And southwest mountain areas of China has been become high incidence areas of slope diseases during highway construction and operation. According to Wendu Road K55+590 ~ K55+670 left slope engineering geological environment, the deformation process and mechanism analysis, The key factor of the slope deforming destruction is proposed. the appropriate engineering treatments and the construction control measures are also proposed based on analysis.

Objective To evaluate a treatment strategy for internal carotid artery blowout syndrome caused by nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Study Design A retrospective analysis of a case series was performed. Setting Carotid blowout syndrome is a catastrophic complication caused by malignant tumor of the skull base. Methods A retrospective analysis based on 69 patients with internal carotid artery blowout syndrome admitted to our center between April 2018 and January 2020 was performed. The patients were divided into 2 groups: an EBBA (internal carotid artery embolization + bypass based on American Society of Intervention and Therapeutic Neuroradiology/Society of Interventional Radiology [ASITN/SIR]) group and an embolization/stent group. The follow-up time was 6 to 9 months. Results In the EBBA group, 41 patients (41/49, 83.7%) survived. Forty patients had a satisfactory quality of life after 3 months. No death occurred within 3 months. Nonoperative death occurred in 8 cases (8/49, 16.3%). The rate of mortality and disability was 18.4% (9/49). In the embolization/stent group, 16 patients (16/20, 80%) survived. Nonoperative death occurred in 4 cases (4/20, 20%), 3 of which occurred within 1 to 3 months. Four cases reported Modified Rankin Scale ≥2 after 3 months. The rate of mortality and disability was 40% (8/20). Conclusion A comprehensive revascularization strategy for internal carotid artery (ICA) embolization and intracranial and extracranial bypass grafting based on ASITN/SIR score for ICA blowout syndrome patients not only can prolong the patient survival but also greatly improve the survival probability and quality of life as well as reduce their rate of mortality or disability.
