In previous papers we have pointed out that there exists a QCD analog of the phenomenological concept of the so-called Fermi motion for the heavy quark inside a hadron. Here we show in a more detailed way how this comes about and we analyze the limitations of this concept. Nonperturbative as well as perturbative aspects are included. We emphasize both similarities and differences to the well-known treatment of deep inelastic lepton-nucleon scattering. We derive a model-independent lower bound on the kinetic energy of the heavy quark inside the hadron.

AbstractSpin-1 resonances are naturally present in composite Higgs frameworks. We first review a model independent approach to parameterize a single additional heavy triplet and then we consider more realistic models arising in composite Higgs scenarios where a larger number of spin-1 resonances is expected. In these cases, finite width and interference effects can heavily affect the bounds extracted from the data.

Advantages of the e-e- option at linear colliders for the study of supersymmetry are highlighted. The fermion number violating process [Formula: see text] provides unique opportunities for studies of slepton masses and flavor mixings. In particular, slepton mass measurements at the 100 MeV level through threshold scans of scalar pair production may be possible. Such measurements are over an order of magnitude better than those possible in e+e- mode, require far less integrated luminosity, and may lead to precise, model-independent measurements of tan β. Implications for studying gauginos and the importance of accurate beam polarimetry are also discussed.

The pair production cross-section for scalar and vector leptoquarks at ep colliders is calculated for the case of photon-gluon fusion. In a model independent analysis we consider the most general C and P conserving couplings of gluons and photons to both scalar and vector leptoquarks described by an effective low-energy Lagrangian which obeys U (1) em × SU (3)c invariance. Numerical predictions are given for the kinematical regime at HERA and LEP ⊗ LHC .
