We have designed a dispersion-aggregation-dispersion colorimetric nanosensor for the detection of Hg2+ ions based on gold nanoparticle/carbon nanodots (AuNP/CDs) with the assistance of glutathione. CDs as a new ligand is proved to efficiently induce AuNP aggregation.
