AbstractWe show a kind of Obata-type theorem on a compact Einstein n-manifold $$(W, \bar{g})$$ ( W , g ¯ ) with smooth boundary $$\partial W$$ ∂ W . Assume that the boundary $$\partial W$$ ∂ W is minimal in $$(W, \bar{g})$$ ( W , g ¯ ) . If $$(\partial W, \bar{g}|_{\partial W})$$ ( ∂ W , g ¯ | ∂ W ) is not conformally diffeomorphic to $$(S^{n-1}, g_S)$$ ( S n - 1 , g S ) , then for any Einstein metric $$\check{g} \in [\bar{g}]$$ g ˇ ∈ [ g ¯ ] with the minimal boundary condition, we have that, up to rescaling, $$\check{g} = \bar{g}$$ g ˇ = g ¯ . Here, $$g_S$$ g S and $$[\bar{g}]$$ [ g ¯ ] denote respectively the standard round metric on the $$(n-1)$$ ( n - 1 ) -sphere $$S^{n-1}$$ S n - 1 and the conformal class of $$\bar{g}$$ g ¯ . Moreover, if we assume that $$\partial W \subset (W, \bar{g})$$ ∂ W ⊂ ( W , g ¯ ) is totally geodesic, we also show a Gursky-Han type inequality for the relative Yamabe constant of $$(W, \partial W, [\bar{g}])$$ ( W , ∂ W , [ g ¯ ] ) .

In this article, we study the classical solution of the mixed problem in a quarter of a plane and a half-plane for a one-dimensional wave equation. On the bottom of the boundary, Cauchy conditions are specified, and the second of them has a discontinuity of the first kind at one point. Smooth boundary condition is set at the side boundary. The solution is built using the method of characteristics in an explicit analytical form. Uniqueness is proved and conditions are established under which a piecewise-smooth solution exists. The problem with linking conditions is considered.

AbstractWe study a semilinear elliptic problem on a compact Riemannian manifold with boundary, subject to an inhomogeneous Neumann boundary condition. Under various hypotheses on the nonlinear terms, depending on their behaviour in the origin and infinity, we prove multiplicity of solutions by using variational arguments.

We show that there is nonuniqueness for the Calderón problem with partial data for Riemannian metrics with Hölder continuous coefficients in dimension greater than or equal to three. We provide simple counterexamples in the case of cylindrical Riemannian manifolds with boundary having two ends. The coefficients of these metrics are smooth in the interior of the manifold and are only Hölder continuous of order $\unicode[STIX]{x1D70C}<1$ at the end where the measurements are made. More precisely, we construct a toroidal ring $(M,g)$ and we show that there exist in the conformal class of $g$ an infinite number of Riemannian metrics $\tilde{g}=c^{4}g$ such that their corresponding partial Dirichlet-to-Neumann maps at one end coincide. The corresponding smooth conformal factors are harmonic with respect to the metric $g$ and do not satisfy the unique continuation principle.

AbstractOn a Fano manifold, we prove that the Kähler–Ricci flow starting from a Kähler metric in the anti-canonical class which is sufficiently close to a Kähler–Einstein metric must converge in a polynomial rate to a Kähler–Einstein metric. The convergence cannot happen in general if we study the flow on the level of Kähler potentials. Instead we exploit the interpretation of the Ricci flow as the gradient flow of Perelman's μ functional. This involves modifying the Ricci flow by a canonical family of gauges. In particular, the complex structure of the limit could be different in general. The main technical ingredient is a Lojasiewicz type inequality for Perelman's μ functional near a critical point.

We establish a new Lyapunov-type inequality for a class of fractional differential equations under Robin boundary conditions. The obtained inequality is used to obtain an interval where a linear combination of certain Mittag-Leffler functions has no real zeros.

The paper presents the investigation of an eigenvalue problem for the Laplace operator with Robin boundary condition in a bounded domain with smooth boundary. The case of boundary condition containing a real parameter is con- sidered. It is proved that multiplicity of the eigenvalue to the Robin problem for all values of the parameter greater than some number does not exceed the mul- tiplicity of the corresponding eigenvalue to the Dirichlet problem for the Laplace operator. For simple eigenvalue of the Dirichlet problem the convergence of eigen- function of the Robin problem to the eigenfunction of the Dirichlet problem for unlimited increase of the parameter is proved. The formula for derivative on the parameter for eigenvalues of the Robin problem is established. This formula is used to justify the asymptotic expansions of eigenvalues of the Robin problem for large positive values of the parameter.
