This chapter discusses the role of the project/product community in the open source product life cycle. It outlines how a community-driven approach affects not only the development process, but also (and more importantly) the marketing/sales process, the deployment, the operation, and in general the resulting software product. Participation in the community is essential for any organization using the product, leading to the concept of a community customer. Specific community participation guidelines are given to organizations and individuals who deploy and use open source software, further develop it, or offer lifetime services on the product.

Abstrak - Augmented Reality merupakan suatu teknologi yangdapat dimanfaatkan dalam pengembangan aplikasi saat ini,dengan adanya Augmented Reality pengguna akan mendapatkanbentuk visual 3D suatu objek sehingga informasi yangterkandung dalam aplikasi dapat diserap dengan baik. Indonesiaterkenal akan keanekaragaman satwa yang tersebar di pulaupulau di Indonesia, namun sebab kurangnya media untukmemperkenalkan satwa langka di Indonesia menjadikan satwalangka yang ada tidak dikenal sehingga rentan akan perburuansehingga terancam punah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untukmembangun sebuah aplikasi Smartphone berbasis Android yangmemperkenalkan satwa langka yang ada di Indonesia. Aplikasiini diberi nama "Aria". Aplikasi ini menggunakan AugmentedReality dengan metode Markerless Augmented Reality menjadikanaplikasi ini mudah digunakan dimana saja. Aplikasi ini berbasisAndroid. Metode perancangan yang digunakan adalah MDLC(Multimedia Development Life Cycle) yang terbagi dalam 6 tahap,yaitu : Concept, Design, Material collecting, Assembly, Testing,dan Distribution. Pembuatan aplikasi ini menggunakan softwareyang open source (terbuka), yaitu Blender dan Unity yangdigunakan untuk pembuatan objek 3 dimensi satwa langkabeserta animasi dan pembuatan aplikasi berbasis Android. Dalampenelitian dapat diketahui bahwa Augmented Reality dapatdigunakan sebagai media pengenalan satwa langka di Indonesia,diharapkan aplikasi ini selanjutnya bisa dikembangkan untukberbagai platform juga dapat memuat informasi tentang seluruhsatwa langka yang ada di Indonesia.Kata kunci - Augmented Reality, Android, Blender, MDLC,Satwa Langka, Unity3D.Abstract - Augmented Reality is a technology that can be utilizedin the development of applications today, with the AugmentedReality users will get a 3D visual form of an object so that theinformation contained in the application can be absorbedproperly. Indonesia is famous for the diversity of animals spreadacross the islands of Indonesia, but because of the lack of media tointroduce endangered species in Indonesia rare animals that arenot known so vulnerable to hunting so endangered. The purposeof this study is to build an Android-based Smartphone applicationthat introduces endangered species in Indonesia. This app isnamed "Aria". This application using Augmented Reality withMarkerless Augmented Reality method makes this applicationeasy to use anywhere. This app is Android based. Design methodused is MDLC (Multimedia Development Life Cycle) which isdivided into 6 stages, namely: Concept, Design, MaterialCollecting, Assembly, Testing, and Distribution. Making thisapplication using open source software, namely Blender andUnity are used to create 3-dimensional objects of rare animalsand animation and manufacture of Android-based applications.In the research can be known that Augmented Reality can beused as a medium of introduction of endangered species inIndonesia, this application is expected to be developed for variousplatforms can also contain information about all the rare animalsin Indonesia.Keywords - Augmented Reality, Android, Blender, MDLC,Satwa Langka, Unity3D.
