Background: Biennial therapeutic efficacy monitoring is a crucial activity for ensuring efficacy of currently used artemisinin-based combination therapy in Angola. Methods: Children with acute uncomplicated P. falciparum infection in sentinel sites in Benguela, Zaire, and Lunda Sul Provinces were treated with artemether-lumefantrine (AL) or artesunate amodiaquine (ASAQ) and followed for 28 days to assess clinical and parasitological response. Molecular correction was performed using seven microsatellite markers. Samples from treatment failures were genotyped for the pfk13, pfcrt, and pfmdr1 genes. Results: Day 3 clearance rates were ≥95% in all arms. Uncorrected Day-28 Kaplan-Meier efficacy estimates ranged from 84.2 to 90.1% for the AL arms, and 84.7 to 100% for the ASAQ arms. Corrected Day-28 estimates were 87.6% (95% Confidence interval [CI]: 81–95%) for the AL arm in Lunda Sul, 92.2% (95%CI: 87-98%) for AL in Zaire, 95.6% (95%CI: 91-100%) for ASAQ in Zaire, 98.4% (95%CI: 96-100%) for AL in Benguela, and 100% for ASAQ in Benguela and Lunda Sul. All 103 analyzed samples had wildtype pfk13 sequences. The 76T pfcrt allele was found in most (92%, 11/12) ASAQ late failure samples but only 16% (4/25) of AL failure samples. The N86 pfmdr1 allele was found in 97% (34/35) of treatment failures. Conclusion: AL efficacy in Lunda Sul was below the 90% World Health Organization threshold, the third time in four rounds that this threshold was crossed for an AL arm in Angola. In contrast, observed ASAQ efficacy has not been below 95% to date in Angola, including this latest round.

The article presents the results of our own research on the therapeutic effectiveness of the use of FORTICEPT UDDER FORTE for post-milk treatment of cows with subclinical mastitis. As is known, one of the reasons for the emergence of mastitis of cows is the lack of proper sanitary-hygienic treatment of breast milk after milking. Taking into consideration the fact after milking, according to various authors, remains open for 30 minutes to 2 hours, it leads to the infection of the mammary gland with the microflora causing its inflammation. The study of the effectiveness of using FORTICEPT UDDER FORTE after milking treatment of cow's doses was performed in comparison with other existing agents: on the basis of chlorhexidine and iodine. The use of FORTICEPT UDDER FORTE for post-milking treatment of cow's dug reduces their incidence by subclinical mastitis by 30–40%.The therapeutic efficacy of using FORTICEPT UDDER FORTE in cows in the first experimental group was 20.1% higher than the other animals (chlorhexidine-based agent) and 13% in the third group (iodine-based).

The article presents the results of studies to determine the therapeutic effectiveness of a veterinary drug based on oxytetracycline and flunixin in piglet bronchopneumonia in comparison with an analog drug. The test drug was ad-ministered intramuscularly twice with an interval of 5 days. Normalization of the condition occurred by the end of the second day from the start of treatment: in piglets, a decrease in body temperature, a decrease in the number of expira-tions and coughing, and an increase in appetite were noted. Clinical recovery of piglets of the experimental group oc-curred on the sixth – seventh day, and the duration of the disease was 6,9±0,9 days. The therapeutic effect was 93,11 %. In the piglets of the control group, relief was observed by the end of the third day. Recovery in the control group occurred on the seventh day. The duration of the disease was 7,6±0,4 days, the therapeutic efficacy was 89,9 %.

The present study was carried out on the third (C3), fourth (C4) and fifth (C5) cervical vertebrae of six specimens of adult Blue bull (Boselaphus tragocamelus) of either sex. It was found that the transverse process was bifid with a transverse foramen located at its base. The upper part of the transverse process projected backward and was short and stout, while the lower part was directed downward and forward and was found to be longer and more plate-like. The bodies of C3-C5 tended to become shorter and wider from front to backwards. The supraspinous process was found to be short and centrally tuberous in C3 that gradually increased in height and length to C5 with forward inclination. The articular processes of the typical cervical vertebrae slightly convex cranially and concave caudally. The posterior articular facets of C5 were egg shaped, whereas those of C4 were like the map of Africa in the Blue bull. A well defined infraspinous process projected from the vertebral body that divided the base into two halves. The biometrical observations on different parameters of typical cervical vertebra reflected significance (P less than 0.05) differences between the sexes of this species.
