AbstractProbabilistic linguistic term sets (PLTSs) play an important role in multi-criteria decision-making(MCDM) problems because it can not only describe objects with several possible linguistic terms, but also represent the proportion of each linguistic term, which can effectively avoid the distortion of decision information to a greater extent and ensure the credibility of decision results. First, to compare PLTS more simply and reasonably, we define a new score function that takes into account partial deviations. Then considering the superiority of the classic combinative distance-based assessment (CODAS) method in the complete representation of information, it is extended to the probabilistic linguistic environment. Subsequently, we improved the classic CODAS method and proposed the PL-CODAS method. Finally, we apply the PL-CODAS method to a cases of venture investors choosing emerging companies, and we compare the proposed method with PL-TOPSIS method, PL-TODIM method and PL-MABAC method to verify its applicability and effectiveness.

Intuitionistic fuzzy set (IFS) is one of the most extensive and important tool to accommodate more uncertainties than existing fuzzy set structures. In the present paper, we describe an improved entropy based on TODIM procedure for handling multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) under IF setting and also the weight information is partially known. First, we study the basic notions and operating laws of IFSs, also the accuracy and score function of it. The new entropy has been proposed. Secondly, the IF information-based decision-making technique for MCDM is presented. Lastly, a numerical example is given related, to demonstrate that their results are credible and feasible.

Group decision-making is a common activity in organizational management and economic conditions. In practice, the opinions of experts may be fuzzy. This paper proposes integrating an extended outranking-TOPSIS method with probabilistic linguistic term sets for multiattribute group decision-making, which is used to solve the real-world public-private partnership (PPP) project selection problem. First, an extended outranking method based on probabilistic linguistic term sets is proposed, and each expert’s ranking of alternatives is obtained according to this method. After the individual ranking is completed, the large-scale expert group is clustered by the K-means clustering method, and then the improved consensus mechanism is used to study the degree of consensus of the expert group. If the consensus of the group is not up to the standard, then, for clusters with a lower degree of consensus with the group, the feedback mechanism is used to adjust the weight between different clusters so that the group consensus can be improved. After achieving the target group consensus, an improved technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution (TOPSIS) method is used to synthesize expert opinions, and the ranking results are obtained. Finally, there are cases used to demonstrate the feasibility and rationality of the method.

The aim of this paper is to propose some score functions for the fruitful ranking of fermatean fuzzy sets (FFSs) and fermatean fuzzy TOPSIS method based on proposed score functions. fermatean fuzzy sets proposed by Senapati and Yager can handle uncertain information more easily in the process of multi-criteria decision making (MCDM). In this paper, the authors have proposed three newly improved score functions for effective ranking of fermatean fuzzy sets. Here, they have applied the proposed score function to calculate the separation measure of each alternative from the positive and negative ideal solutions to determine the relative closeness coefficient. Based on different types of score functions, they have employed the TOPSIS method to solve the multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) problem in which all preference information provided by the decision makers is expressed in terms of fermatean fuzzy decision matrices. Finally, a numerical example for selecting the bride form matrimonial site has been considered to illustrate the proposed method.

For many multi-attribute decision-making (MADM) problems, linguistic variables are more convenient for people to express the attribute values. In this paper, a novel shadowed set-based method is proposed to deal with linguistic terms, where the linguistic term sets are symmetrical both in meaning and form. Firstly, to effectively express the linguistic variables, we develop a data-driven method to construct the shadowed set model for the linguistic terms. Secondly, the Pythagorean shadowed set is defined, and some theorems are subsequently explored. Thirdly, we propose the score function of the Pythagorean shadowed number and develop a new MADM method on the basis of the Pythagorean shadowed set. Finally, a case study of the supplier selection problem is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, and the superiority of our method is demonstrated by comparison analysis.

Banking has always played an important role in the economy because of its effects on individuals as well as on the economy. In the process of renovation and modernization of the country, the system of commercial banks has changed dramatically. Business models and services have become more diversified. Therefore, the performance of commercial banks is always attracting the attention of managers, supervisors, banks and customers. Bank ranking can be viewed as a multi-criteria decision model. This article uses the technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) method to rank some commercial banks in Vietnam.
