Besides opening new land to the hilly terrain, reclamation of beach and other watery land is one of the alternatives of residential land compliance which is pretty much applied. However, the reclamation work often encounteres some obstacles, such as the soft subgrade with a low carrying capacity and the possibility for consolidation reduction which is large and long and high sea waves that could potentially cause abrasion during both construction and after construction. The use of geosynthetic materials as an alternative material supporting the reclamation work in Indonesia is still limited. The project owner and executives tend to use conventional methods though the use of geosynthetic can provide benefits and ease of implementation. Some of the advantages of using geosynthetic materials in reclamation work with soft soil foundation is a faster execution of the work, loss reduction of embankment material into the soft subgrade, and lower maintenance costs. This paper discusses geosynthetic products as well as its application to the reclamation work that comes with examples of projects that have been or are being carried out and in Indonesia.

Building settlement problem on soft subgrade and not supported by suitable type of foundation and suitable because the subgrade experience compression. The problem of building degradation occurs when installing reinforce concrete pipe (RCP) for drainage channels. Based on the facts and causes of the decline in the reinforce concrete pipe pair the results of the study were applied to the use of the Kacapiring foundation to support the reinforce concrete pipe. The installation of Kacapiring foundations includes the preparation of subgrade, installation of slabs and galam wood girders, installation of concrete support slabs, installation of reinforce concrete pipe and adjustment of elevation of reinforce concrete pipe. The results of community service activities show that the community has understood, understood and can do the installation of the gardenia foundation independently with enthusiasm. From the results of this activity the community also hopes to apply the Kacapiring foundation to overcome similar problems in other places that experience similar problems.

Cakar Ayam Modification System (CAM) has been widely used as one of the solutions to road pavement problems in soft subgrade, although construction costs were initially high, the total costs incurred were smaller due to small maintenance costs. This research analyzes the deflection produced in a triangle patterned CAM system and quadrilateral with variations in the distance between claws of 2.25 m. Loading uses truck loads based on SNI 1725 2016 with three different position variations each in the middle and edge of the pavement. The analysis was carried out using Finite Element Method-based software which has been proven to be able to approach the original conditions in the field. The results of the analysis show that the CAM pattern with triangular pattern is better at reducing deflection that occurs compared to quadrilateral CAM systems. The deflection difference produced by the triangular CAM system against the clawless pavement system reached 36.97% while on the quadrilateral CAM system the difference was only 28.56%.

On the background of one railway freight yard in Xiao Yong railway , and firstly the use of thin-walled tubular pile is determined in railroad yard through the comparison with other methods in the soft foundation reinforcement. Secondly, the effect of the soft-soil foundation reinforcement combined with the numerical simulation and the measured data is analyzed. Finally, it is defined that the thin-walled tubular piles has good value in the treatment of the high-filling railway yard, and it also can provide a new method for the improvement of the soft subgrade in railway freight yard.
