In this paper, the Mo-Si-Ni-Al metal-ceramic composite cladding layer on the surface of the 304 stainless steel was applied by using tungsten inert gas (TIG) method. The phase composition and microstructure of the cladding layer were characterized by XRD, SEM and EDS. With the high temperature erosion experiment in the range of 873-1073 K, the erosion behavior of the Mo-Si-Ni-Al cladding layer was studied. The maximum total mass loss was observed in the specimen, which was tested at 923 K and 45°erosion angle. The high temperature erosion mechanism of the Mo-Si-Ni-Al cladding layer was discussed.

Hot hardness and oxidation property of target material influences greatly on the erosion behavior at elevated temperature. The correlation between hot hardness and oxidation property of multi component white cast irons and its erosion resistance were investigated, and try to estimate the high temperature erosion behavior in the study. Nine kinds of multi component white cast iron and cast steel were used in this study. Specimen were machined into a flat plate with dimension of 50×50×10 mm. High temperature erosion test machine was used to investigate the erosive wear property of experimental materials at 1173K. Alumina grits (average diameter: 1.16 mm, hardness: 1250 HV1) which were used as impact particles were heated to 1073K and shoot on the heated specimen by hot air at the velocity of 100 m/s. The total particle loading was 2 kg. In order to clarify the correlation of hot hardness, oxidation property and the erosion resistance of specimens, hot hardness test was carried out specimens, to estimate erosion damage caused by solid particle. Hot hardness of specimens showed a value comparable to 200~250HV1. Result of erosion and oxidation tests, erosion rate and amount of oxidation of the specimen were suppressed by Ni addition. It suggested that the more amount of Ni contents, the lower the erosion rate and the less the amount of oxidation.

The A raw C/C composite with a density of 1.40g/cm3 was used in order to investigate the high temperature erosion behavior and mechanical properties of liquid silicon infiltrated C/SiC composites. The microstructures of the as-received and infiltrated composites were examined with an optical (OM) and a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The volume fraction of residual silicon and porosity was measured by using an image analyzer. The flexural test for as-received as well as melt Si infiltrated C/C composites was performed to estimate the mechanical strength of the C/SiC composites. Severe fiber damage was occurred after infiltration. SiC was formed by reaction between carbon of fiber surface and molten Si . Flexural strength was decreased after melt Si infiltration and pull-out of fiber was observed at the fracture surface of as-received material.
