One of the biggest challenges in oil and gas production projects is dealing with the various types of corrosion to which certain parts of field equipment are exposed. Selecting the right corrosion inhibitor for the specific environment is extremely important. Choosing inhibitors for a particular location can be a difficult task because there are many factors to be considered. Understanding the corrosion problems that can arise is important in the oil and gas industry, and knowledge of which inhibitors to use to deal with general and localized corrosion will save time and money in the long run. This article presents the results of studies of various brands of domestic and foreign corrosion inhibitors for use in the Uzen field: physical and chemical characteristics (density, viscosity, freezing temperature, mass fraction of active substance, compatibility with field waters, amine number), efficiency of corrosion inhibitors in laboratory conditions and on a bench simulating field reservoir conditions, taking into account pressure, temperature, fluid flow rate, as well as aggressive components - hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide. In addition, studies of corrosion inhibitors' effect on the process of preparation of production are also given. The works were carried out in the center of scientific and laboratory research of KMG Engineering branch " KazNIPImunaygas" LLP.

The effect of carbon dioxide corrosion on the pipeline transport system and its protection methods are considered in this article. The corrosion inhibitors represented by imidazoline-based compositions and industrial samples of corrosion inhibitors are used as protective reagents, and the model of produced water saturated with carbon dioxide is used as an aggressive environment. The protective properties of inhibitors and the corrosion rate were evaluated by gravimetric analysis. The paper presents the results of the study of industrial samples and inhibitory compositions developed on the basis of the REC “Promyslovaya himiya”. According to the results of the work, a positive effect of additives of nonionic surfactants on the protective properties of inhibitors was noted.

Acid treatments are one of the methods for intensifying oil and gas production. Corrosion is a significant factor affecting the performance of oilfield equipment. There are many different methods of preventing corrosion, but corrosion inhibitors are most commonly used in industry. The protective effect of the inhibitor is directly determined by the effective adsorption of surfactants on the metal surface. For an indirect assessment of the adsorption of the inhibitor, a comprehensive research method is proposed based on the determination of the interfacial tension of acid compositions and steel plates’ contact angle of wetting after corrosion tests. It was found that in hydrochloric acid the adsorption of the inhibitor IC-1 reaches a maximum after 6 h, an increase in the acid concentration in the range of 5–15% wt. has a negative effect on the activity of the inhibitor. For sulfamic acid, the maximum adsorption of the IC-2 inhibitor is observed after 24 h, an increase in acid concentration has a positive effect on surfactants.
