We introduce two simple foam blockage rules and examine their effect on sweep efficiency through a porous medium. Applying a random walk simulation method, it is found that an efficient sweep can be performed by a blockage mechanism where every invaded throat is blocked upon invasion. The blocking foam lamella must also have a large, but not necessarily infinite, decay time. This result is interpreted as a reduction in the interface speed. Keywords: porous media, viscous fingering, foam flow.
