The complex processes in edge tokamak plasma are affected (among others) both by resonant magnetic perturbation (RMP) and by plasma turbulence. RMP is nowadays considered to be a candidate for the mitigation of the edge-localized modes (ELMs). The effect of plasma turbulence inthe edge region has not been studied yet. Since both RMP and plasma turbulence should influence plasma dynamics, studies of their simultaneous effect have potential practical implications. Using a simplified model of the turbulence and single-particle simulations, we discovered that its effect at realistic amplitudes changes the ion dynamics significantly. We expect that the turbulence has a similar effect on electrons, thus potentially influencing the ELM mitigation mechanism.

Yogyakarta has increasing trends in the number of vehicles and consequently intensifying the traffic volume and will effect to higher emission and air pollution. Traffic lights duration plays a vital role in congestion mitigation in the critical intersections of urban areas. This study has objective to minimize the number of vehicles waiting in line by developing the hybrid simulation method. First of all, the MKJI and Webster method were calculated to determine the green traffic light. Then, the simulation model was developed to evaluate the number of vehicles waiting in line according to different duration of green traffic lights from MKJI and Webster method. A case study will then be provided in Pelemgurih intersection located in Yogyakarta, Indonesia for demonstrating the applicability of the developed method. The result shows that the duration of green traffic lights calculated by Webster method provides lower number of vehicles waiting in line. It is due to the short duration of green traffic light resulted by Webster method so that the traffic light cycle becomes shorter and it effects the number of vehicles waiting in line which is lower than MKJI method. The results obtained can help the generating desired decision alternatives that will important for Department of Transportation, Indonesia to enhance the road traffic management with low number of vehicles waiting in line.

As an important project on the golden waterway of the Yangtze River in China, the Three Gorges–Gezhouba Dams (TGGD) plays a pivotal role in the construction of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. To improve the efficiency and safety of ship traffic, some novel navigation regulations have been implemented that change the TGGD operation obviously. For example, a piecewise control strategy proposed in the regulations is applied to control the traffic flow of ships under a sectional manner. With the implementation of these regulations, how to understand the dynamic effects of new changes on TGGD has been an important problem. The purpose of this work is to evaluate the navigation performance of the TGGD via a data- and event-driven hybrid simulation model developed by multi-agent and discrete-event modeling theories. The model simulates the three significant navigable scenarios inherent in the actual operating environment: dry season, wet season, and flood season, reflecting the real situations. The input data come from the statistical analysis of the actual navigation data provided by the Three Gorges Navigation Administration. The validity and reliability of the model are verified by comparing the output results with actual data. Moreover, a set of test experiments are designed to explore the TGGD navigation limit and analyze the key factors that restrict the navigation capacity of the TGGD system. The work is expected to provide a certain decision support for the future cooperative scheduling optimization of the TGGD.
