The greatest feature of cloud-based mass customization service platform is massive parallel processing of information. So the good or bad of the parallel processing determines the precision and efficiency of cloud-based mass customization service platform. This paper brings up the method of parallel processing of configuration design for the cloud-based mass customization service platform. The parallel processing of product configuration is performed by ABC analysis, parallel BOM and product family. Finally this research has been applied for customization product: Gearbox, and has improved the efficiency of parallel processing for the cloud-based mass customization service platform.

Product configuration is the process of generating a product variant from a previously defined product family model and additional product specifications for this variant. The process of finding and sequencing the relevant operations for manufacturing this product is called process planning. This article combines the two principles in a new concept of process configuration that solves the process planning task using product configuration methods. The second section develops characteristics for two process configuration concepts, the interactive process configuration and the automation-based process configuration. Following an overview of the implementation of a process configuration system, the results of a case study in the aluminum rolling industry are presented. The main benefits of the process configuration concept are observed in a reduced knowledge-maintenance effort and in increased problem-solving speed.

An analysis method for commonality of module & part in modular product family was put forward. The part and module commonality in module layer and component part layer of product family were identified, respectively. The formulations of the two commonalities take into account amount of component part or module, variety, volume, price/cost of the part or module, size, geometry, material, manufacturing process, assembly. According to the source of parts, the mathematical formulas of self-made parts and purchased parts were set up respectively in the component part layer. Finally, an example of drive axle of wheel loader was given to indicate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
