Efficiency in supply chains is critically affected by the performance of operations within warehouses. For this reason, the activities related to the disposition and management of inventories are crucial. This work addresses the multi-level storage locations assignment problem for SKU pallets, considering divisible locations in the first level to improve the picking operation and reduce the travel times associated with the routes of the cranes. A mathematical programming model is developed considering the objective of minimizing the total travel distance, and in the background, maximizing the use of storage capacity. To solve this complex problem, we consider its decomposition into four subproblems, which are solved sequentially. To evaluate the performance of the model, two analysis scenarios based on different storage strategies are proposed to evaluate both the entry and exit distance of pallets, as well as the cost associated with the movements.

This paper is concerned with the proctor assignment problem. Although there have been many proposed models for solving this kind of problem, it turns out that those models perform well only in their context. Also, no models can solve all problems in any context. Hence, creating a model for a specific problem is essential. In this paper, we define the problem and challenges of assigning proctors at our university as an optimization model. We experiment on two methods: the Generic Algorithm and the Integer Programming, then compare the results. For the Integer programming, we proposed an objective loss called zero-min loss, which minimizes the spans of days the proctors must be at the university during the examination time. Our main result shows that the proposed Integer Programming gives a 2285 higher score in fitness value compare to the Generic Algorithm.

The article is devoted to the problem of the flow of goods in the transport network. Ante algorithms have been used for this purpose. An optimization model based on the problem (Quadratic Assignment Problem - QAS) was built. Eight different ant algorithms were select-ed. The results of the application of ant algorithms for solving the problem of the flow of goods rationalization are presented and dis-cussed..
