To explore the performance of the ground source thermal energy management system under the cold and heat sources, based on the cold and heat auxiliary technology, a ground source thermal energy composite management system is constructed and simulated. The constructed ground source heat pump-refrigeration unit-hybrid heating management system of urban heating networks, as well as the simple system, are analyzed and investigated in terms of power consumption and underground temperature control. The research results show that the constructed ground source heat pump-refrigeration unit-hybrid heating management system of the urban heating network has lower power and energy consumption than a simple system during the same period, which meets the economic requirements and guarantees the system with relatively low energy consumption. For underground temperature control, the constructed system is more stable than a simple system without excessive temperature fluctuations. The operation control strategy of the constructed system is mainly for chiller units, heat pump units, cooling towers, source side, and side circulation water pump modules. In summary, the constructed ground source heat pump-refrigeration unit-hybrid heating management system of an urban heating network based on the ground source heat pump meets the requirements for energy consumption and temperature control and can operate the control strategy normally. The results are significant for subsequent researches on the ground source thermal energy management system based on cold and heat auxiliary technology.

In order to clarify the operation and performance of ground source heat pump in severe cold regions, the paper based on the demonstration project about ground source heat pump at Yifu teaching building of Jilin Jianzhu University, expounds the profile of the demonstration project and the data monitoring program of the system about ground source heat pump, shows monitoring data of the running condition in winter in line with the demonstration project and analyses the monitoring data briefly. The result shows that the heating effect of ground source heat pump system is favorable and ground source heat pump system is obviously environmental and energy saving.

This paper presents a feasibility and performance study of ground source heat pump (GSHP) coupled with horizontal ground heat exchanger (HGHX) used for cooling residential unit equipped with radiant floor system (RFs) under the meteorological conditions of Saharan environment in Ouargla, city located in Southeast Algeria. A dynamic simulation system is developed using TRNSYS software for modeling the performance of the GSHP system. To verify the reliability of GSHP including HGHX system programs, the modeling procedure was validated against experimental data from a horizontal ground source heat pump system (HGSHPs) installed at the Research and Technology Center of Energy (CRTEn), Tunisia, and a good agreement was obtained. Then, to obtain an acceptable balance between system efficiency and total cost of HGSHPs an economic analysis was carried out to determine the optimum design parameters of the HGHX. The simulation results obtained from this study indicated that the HGSHPs could effectively solve cooling problem and reduce traditional energy consumption in the Saharan areas; it is possible to lower the mean indoor air temperature below 27 °C and raise the average relative humidity to reach 73.97%. By concentrating principally on the thermal-economic optimization, the optimized COP of the GSHP that combines the reliability and economy of cooling in long term was found to be 3.89.

Long-term studies of ground source heat pump (GSHP) heating and cooling systems for six different buildings (commercial, institutional and multi-family buildings) were conducted in Germany by Steinbeis-Innovationszentrum (SIZ) energy+. Three of them are equipped with borehole heat exchangers, and the others use energy piles as heat exchangers. This paper deals with a demonstration of the investigated buildings, the measured values and performance, and the obtained results include important findings and experiences, problems encountered and possible preventive measures to avoid mistakes. After ten years of operation, it can be stated that the systems work and achieve their planned efficiency but require constant control and regulation to avoid faulty operation. An analysis of the implemented control strategies shows that, for all these heating and cooling systems, holistically coordinated control strategies that are verified during commissioning are required.
