Flue gas recycling system is an effective way of saving energy and improving efficiency for coal-fired power plant. In this paper, the general low-temperature economizer, heat pipe type low temperature economizer, composite phase change heat recovery system are introduced. Combined with a 600MW unit parameters, the economies of various waste heat recovery system are compared.

The waste heat recovered by traditional industrial waste heat recovery systems is mostly high-temperature flue gas and combustible gas, while the waste heat of medium and low temperature flue gas that accounts for more than 50% of the total waste heat resources has been ignored, which is not conducive to the effective energy saving of industrial production and manufacturing process. In the meantime, few studies have concerned about the changes in the economy of circulating industrial waste heat recovery system. Therefore, to fill in this research gap, this paper aimed at the economy problem of circulating medium and low temperature industrial waste heat recovery system and carried out a series of research. The paper completed the thermodynamic analysis of different medium and low temperature waste heat recovery modes of industrial flue gas, and gave the analysis steps of the economy of circulating medium and low temperature waste heat recovery system of industrial flue gas. The effectiveness and accuracy of the thermodynamic and thermo-economic models constructed in the paper were proved by experimental results.

To improve on-site power generation capacity and efficiency in process facilities, the thermal coupling of an industrial gas turbine cycle with a bottoming organic Rankine cycle for power plant flue gas waste heat recovery in a process facility is investigated. Using 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane (R245fa) as heat carrier in the Rankine cycle, 5.2 MW of additional electric power is generated, enhancing on-site power generation capacity and energy/exergy efficiency by approximately 23% and 6%, respectively. The overall energy and exergy efficiencies of the waste heat recovery system are estimated at 9% and 24%, respectively. Primary energy savings of approximately 1.3 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of natural gas, or net annual operating expenditure savings of 1.6 million USD, could be realized with the proposed flue gas waste heat recovery system based on subsidized industrial electricity tariffs in the UAE, with 457 tons of avoided CO2 emissions per year.

The heat pipe type waste heat recovery system can effectively reduce energy consumption when the ship is sailing in a polar region, so it has great engineering application value. In order to improve the design of the heat pipe waste heat recovery system and ensure that the design parameters meet the design requirements, this project has carried out a three-dimensional simulation analysis of the internal flow field of the heat pipe waste heat recovery system. Through reasonable model processing, application of boundary conditions, and the assignment of physical attributes the flow field characteristics of the key positions of the heat pipe type waste heat recovery system were obtained scientifically and effectively. The model was simulated and calculated, and the flue gas temperature distribution in the evaporator heat exchange tube, the overall temperature distribution of the waste heat recovery system, and the temperature change curve from the cold water entering the condenser to the steady state were obtained. The change curve of the thermal efficiency of the system during the temperature of the flue gas from the evaporator to the steady state.
