Nanofluid flow and heat transfer in a rotating system between two parallel plates in the presence of thermal radiation and heat source impacts are examined. One of the plates of the considered system is penetrable and the other one is stretchable or shrinkable. A similarity transformation is used to convert the governing momentum and energy equations into non-linear ordinary differential equations with the relevant boundary conditions. The achieved non-linear ordinary differential equations are solved by Duan-Rach Approach (DRA). This method allows us to realize a solution without applying numerical methods to evaluate the unspecified coefficients. The impacts of diverse active parameters such as the stretching/shrinking parameter, the radiation parameter, the heat source parameter, the suction/blowing parameter, the Reynolds number and the volume fraction of nanofluid on the velocity and temperature profiles are explored. Also, the correlation for the Nusselt number has been developed in terms of active parameters of the present study. The outcomes indicate that the Nusselt number is a raising function of the injection parameter, nanofluid volume fraction and the radiation parameter, while it is a decreasing function of the suction and heat source parameters. Furthermore, for injection case by soaring the shrinking parameter, the probability of occurrence of the backflow phenomenon soars.

The effective applications of Casson fluid in drilling processes, biological treatments, food processing, and bio-engineering activities have caught the interest of a wide range of researchers. The suitable knowledge of heat transfer via non-Newtonian fluid is essential for the achievement of best quality products in industry. Thus, the three-dimensional Casson nanofluid flow over a stretching sheet with Arrhenius activation energy and exponential heat source effects is investigated in this paper using a computational process based on iterative power series (IPS) method. To provide useful insights into the physical and dynamic examinations of this topic, convective heat and convective mass boundary conditions are used. The developed model of nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs) has been transformed into ordinary differential equations (ODEs) using similarity transformations. The numerical solution of the transformed ODEs is obtained by employing the IPS technique combined with shooting iteration approach. The results of this study are validated with the previous studies, and excellent agreements have been obtained. The behavior of various capable physical parameters is analyzed. It is observed that the thermal and concentration fields show an enhancement with respect to the exponential heat source parameter and thermal and concentration Biot numbers. Further, the Arrhenius activation energy parameter has shown a significant effect on the concentration field.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to explore the effects of binary chemical reaction and activation energy on nano Casson liquid flow past a stretched plate with non-linear radiative heat, and also, the effect of a novel exponential space-dependent heat source (ESHS) aspect along with thermal-dependent heat source (THS) effect in the analysis of heat transfer in nanofluid. Comparative analysis is carried out between the flows with linear radiative heat process and non-linear radiative heat process.Design/methodology/approachA similarity transformation technique is utilised to access the ODEs from the governed PDEs. The manipulation of subsequent non-linear equations is carried out by a well-known numerical approach called Runge–Kutta–Fehlberg scheme. Obtained solutions are briefly discussed with the help of graphical and tabular illustrations.FindingsThe effects of various physical parameters on temperature, nanoparticles volume fraction and velocity fields within the boundary layer are discussed for two different flow situations, namely, flow with linear radiative heat and flow with non-linear radiative heat. It is found that an irregular heat source/sink (ESHS and THS) and non-linear solar radiation play a vital role in the enhancement of the temperature distributions.Originality/valueThe problem is relatively original to study the effects of activation energy and binary chemical reaction along with a novel exponential space-based heat source on laminar boundary flow past a stretched plate in the presence of non-linear Rosseland radiative heat.
