<p><em>Environmental concerns along with the increasing demand on electrical power, have led to power generation of renewable sources like wind. Connecting wind turbines in large scale powers with transmission network makes new challenges like the impact of these renewable sources on power system protection. This paper studies the impact of fault resistance and its location on voltage and current fundamental frequencies of faulted lines connected to DFIG based wind farms and it will be demonstrated that because of the large differences between these frequencies, impedance measuring of distance relays is inefficient. Hence in these power systems using conventional impedance measurements is not suitable anymore and new impedance measuring approaches are required in distance relays.</em></p>

Fault resistance influences the operation of distance relays, thus causing it to give inaccurate impedance measurement, thus resulting to under-reach condition. .Trip report of fault occurrence in Alaoji-Afam 330kV line showed the effect of fault resistance on the relay operation. This paper seek to improve distance relay performance in terms of reliability, speed and selectivity on Alaoji-Afam 330kV transmission line, when fault resistance is present through adjustment of protected zone reach using NEPLAN software to model and simulate distance relay used for this study. Several simulations were run and the results showed good improvement of distance relay operation in handling fault conditions. Adjustment of the protected zone reach was done to compensate for the effect of high fault resistance on distance relay operation.

The system of route correction of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is considered. For the route correction the on-board radar complex is used. In conditions of active interference, it is impossible to use radar images for the route correction so it is proposed to use the on-board navigation system with algorithmic correction. An error compensation scheme of the navigation system in the output signal using the algorithm for constructing a predictive model of the system errors is applied. The predictive model is building using the genetic algorithm and the method of group accounting of arguments. The quality comparison of the algorithms for constructing predictive models is carried out using mathematical modeling.
