CONTEXT: Bluish discoloration and swelling of the scrotum in newborns can arise from a number of diseases, including torsion of the testes, orchitis, scrotal or testicular edema, hydrocele, inguinal hernia, meconium peritonitis, hematocele, testicular tumor and traumatic hematoma. Forty-two cases of scrotal abnormalities as signs of neonatal adrenal hemorrhage were found in the literature. CASE REPORT: We present a case of scrotal hematoma due to adrenal hemorrhage in a newborn. Conservative treatment with clinical follow-up was adopted, with complete resolution within 10 days. The possible differential diagnoses are reviewed and discussed.

Anastomotic leakage in colorectal surgery is an infrequent but in some cases very serious or even lethal complication. The over-the-scope-clipping (OTSC) system (Ovesco), which was originally developed to treat intestinal perforation and was tested on animals, could be the answer for the patient with such situation. We present a case of 63-year-old man suturae insuffitiency at the 40th post-operative day. The conservative treatment was long and unsuccessful. The lesion was then closed with two subsequent clips, and the patient recovered well without major interventions. The lesion showed a normal healing on the follow-up.

Clavicular fractures are some of the most common bone injuries in the paediatric population, yet the rates of nonunion are very low under 18 years. To the best of our knowledge, posttraumatic nonunion of the clavicle in a paediatric population is rarely reported. We report the case of an 11-year-old girl who presented with a nondislocated fracture of the midshaft to the proximal third of the right clavicle. Initial conservative treatment by sling immobilization demonstrated radiologically confirmed healing at 3 months. However, at 1-year follow-up, she presented with painful nonunion. Diagnostic MRI and CT exams confirmed a pseudoarthrosis, requiring elective open reduction and internal fixation with the aid of an ipsilateral iliac crest bone graft.

The complicated crown-root fracture of young permanent teeth is an uncommon traumatic dental injury that is usually treated in a complex way and is demanding not only for the dentist but even for the treated child. In this case report, we present the conservative treatment of a maxillary central incisor in a 10-year-old boy after a traumatic dental injury. Treatment included partial pulpotomy and adhesive fragment reattachment after reflection of the mucoperiosteal flap. The patient was fully asymptomatic at 24-month follow-up, with an aesthetically acceptable outcome. Vital pulp therapy and adhesive fragment reattachment can be a viable treatment option for complicated crown-root fractures, especially when treating immature permanent teeth.

AbstractObjective:We report a case of lymphangioma circumscriptum of the tongue, a very rare site of occurrence, which was successfully managed with intralesional bleomycin therapy.Method:We present a case report and review of available literature regarding lymphangioma circumscriptum of the tongue and the role of bleomycin therapy. Results:The patient was a 19-year-old man with a long-standing lesion involving the tongue, who presented with spontaneous, episodic bleeding over the previous few months. A diagnosis of lymphangioma circumscriptum was established on biopsy. Intralesional bleomycin injection resulted in successful resolution, and the patient remained asymptomatic over more than one year's follow up.Conclusion:Lymphangioma circumscriptum is usually seen in the extremities and genitals. This case had a very rare site of occurrence, the tongue, and was successfully managed with conservative treatment, using intralesional bleomycin alone.

A 22-year-old male varsity collegiate wrestler presented for general chiropractic care for an unrelated condition and noted right elbow pain that had progressively increased over the past few weeks. The athlete was diagnosed with a right brachialis strain and advised to follow up with his athletic trainer for co-management of his injury. The patient responded positively to prescribed treatments and rehabilitation to decrease pain and restore functionality (<14 days) while only missing one competitive match. The location of the brachialis muscle and scarcity of literature makes diagnosis and treatment complex. The physical examination and conservative treatment presented in this report demonstrate the need for comprehensive and exploratory examination and co-management of wrestling athletes with a brachialis strain.

Introduction: Odontogenic mixomas (OMs) are a locally infiltrating slow-growing intraosseous nonmetastasizing tumors of the maxilla and the mandible that have the potential for bone destruction and cortical expansion, showing high recurrence rates. Their frequency varies around the world, accounting for 3-20% of all odontogenic tumors, ranking third among odontogenic tumors. They predominantly affect young adults, but may occur in various age groups. Report: A 37-year-old female patient who in August 2005 sought treatment at the Maxillofacial Dental Unit at Hospital Higueras, Talcahuano, Chile, for a left maxillary bone lesion. An increase in volume was observed in the left maxillary region in the clinical analysis of the oral cavity. The neoplasm was sessile and painless, measuring approximately 3 cm, with a greater diameter in the vestibule, firm on palpation and without signs of gangliopathy. Computed cone beam tomography imaging showed an extensive infiltrating osteolytic lesion in the left maxillary sinus, with no involvement of the orbital bone structure. Analysis of incisional biopsy yielded the diagnosis of Odontogenic Fibromixoma. It was proposed to perform the conservative treatment of the lesion, consisting of enucleation and surgical curettage, obtaining excellent postoperative results and absence of relapse after 11-year follow-up. Conclusion: The present case report provides evidence that supports the conservative surgical approach for the treatment of odontogenic myxomas, which contributes to a better postoperative quality of life for the patient.
