Dibenzylamine motifs are an important class of crucial organic compounds and are widely used in fine chemical and pharmaceutical industries. The development of the efficient, economical, and environmentally friendly synthesis of amines using transition metal-based heterogeneous catalysts remains both desirable and challenging. Herein, we prepared the covalent organic framework (COF)-supported heterogeneous reduced COF-supported Pd-based catalyst and used it for the one-pot reductive amination of aldehydes. There are both Pd metallic state and oxidated Pdσ+ in the catalysts. Furthermore, in the presence of the reduced COF-supported Pd-based catalyst, many aromatic, aliphatic, and heterocyclic aldehydes with various functional groups substituted were converted to their corresponding amines products in good to excellent selectivity (up to 91%) under mild reaction conditions (70 °C, 2 h, NH3, 20 bar H2). This work expands the covalent organic frameworks for the material family and its support catalyst, opening up new catalytic applications in the economical, practical, and effective synthesis of secondary amines.

In this study, B, N-codoped graphene nanoribbons (BN-GNRs) were prepared on a large scale via a one-pot hydrothermal method with GNRs and an ammonium fluoroborate (NH4BF4) mixture and served as the support for Pd loading targeted for efficient ethanol electrooxidation.

An efficient one pot condensation of naphthols (1), 2,5-disubstituted indole-3-carboxaldehydes (2), and secondary amines (3) has been achieved using dichloromethane as a solvent, stirring at room temperature. Some of the new [(disubstituted amino)(5-substituted 2-phenyl-1H-indol-3-yl)methyl]naphthalene-ols (4) derivatives were prepared in good yields. The significant features of this method are simple work-up procedure, inexpensive nontoxic solvent, shorter reaction times, and excellent product yields. The structures of newly synthesized compounds (4a–r) are confirmed by their elemental analysis, FTIR, 1H and 13C NMR, and mass spectral data. These compounds were screened for their in vitro antioxidant, antimicrobial, antitubercular, and anticancer activities. Among the synthesized compounds (4a–r), the compound 4e exhibited highest activity for radical scavenging and ferric ions reducing antioxidant power activities; compounds 4b, 4h, and 4k showed good metal chelating activity. Compounds 4n and 4q showed excellent antimicrobial activities with MIC value 08 µg/mL against tested strains. Compounds 4h, 4k, 4n, and 4q exhibited promising antitubercular activity with MIC value 12.5 µg/mL. Compounds 4k and 4q exhibited 100% cell lysis at concentration 10 µg/mL against MDA-MB-231 (human adenocarcinoma mammary gland) cell lines.

Abstract Anthraquinones are of significant interest due to their biological activity, coloring properties and synthetic applications. Here, we describe a mild and convenient method for modification of 1-ethynyl-4-hydroxyanthraquinone that was obtained from the Sonogashira reaction of 1-hydroxy-4-iodoanthraquinone with alkynes. The copper(I) catalyzed one-pot three component reaction (A3-coupling) of the new 1-ethynyl-4-hydroxyanthraquinone with secondary amines and formaldehyde was the main approach for the synthesis of nitrogen substituted 1-[3-(amino)prop-1-ynyl]-4-hydroxyanthraquinones. The influence of different substituent in the amine on reaction rate and yield has been evaluated. The cytotoxicity of 1-ethynyl-4-hydroxyanthraquinones was evaluated using the conventional MTT assay. Among all the compounds synthesized, anthraquinone-propargylamine derivatives 28, 29, 30 and 34 possess most promising cytotoxic potential towards glioblastoma cancer cells; compounds 14 and 19 shown selectivity towards the prostate cancer cells DU-145, and 18, and 24 – towards breast cancer cells MCF-7. The grown inhibition on these cancer cells of 18 and 24 was comparable to those of standard drug Doxorubicin. Molecular modeling of new compounds in DNA G-quadruplex binding site was performed to help understand the observed SAR trends.
