Abstract Just like group actions are represented by group automorphisms, Lie algebra actions are represented by derivations: up to isomorphism, a split extension of a Lie algebra $B$ by a Lie algebra $X$ corresponds to a Lie algebra morphism $B\to {\mathit {Der}}(X)$ from $B$ to the Lie algebra ${\mathit {Der}}(X)$ of derivations on $X$ . In this article, we study the question whether the concept of a derivation can be extended to other types of non-associative algebras over a field ${\mathbb {K}}$ , in such a way that these generalized derivations characterize the ${\mathbb {K}}$ -algebra actions. We prove that the answer is no, as soon as the field ${\mathbb {K}}$ is infinite. In fact, we prove a stronger result: already the representability of all abelian actions – which are usually called representations or Beck modules – suffices for this to be true. Thus, we characterize the variety of Lie algebras over an infinite field of characteristic different from $2$ as the only variety of non-associative algebras which is a non-abelian category with representable representations. This emphasizes the unique role played by the Lie algebra of linear endomorphisms $\mathfrak {gl}(V)$ as a representing object for the representations on a vector space $V$ .

We introduce post-associative algebra structures and study their relationship to post-Lie algebra structures, Rota–Baxter operators and decompositions of associative algebras and Lie algebras. We show several results on the existence of such structures. In particular, we prove that there exists no post-Lie algebra structure on a pair [Formula: see text], where [Formula: see text] is a simple Lie algebra and [Formula: see text] is a reductive Lie algebra, which is not isomorphic to [Formula: see text]. We also show that there is no post-associative algebra structure on a pair [Formula: see text] arising from a Rota–Baxter operator of [Formula: see text], where [Formula: see text] is a semisimple associative algebra and [Formula: see text] is not semisimple. The proofs use results on Rota–Baxter operators and decompositions of algebras.

q-Deformations of 3-Lie algebras and representations of q-3-Lie algebras are discussed. A q-3-Lie algebra [Formula: see text], where [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text], is a vector space A over a field 𝔽 with 3-ary linear multiplications [ , , ]q and [Formula: see text] from [Formula: see text] to A, and a map [Formula: see text] satisfying the q-Jacobi identity [Formula: see text] for all [Formula: see text]. If the multiplications satisfy that [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] is skew-symmetry, then [Formula: see text] is called a type (I)-q-3- Lie algebra. From q-Lie algebras, group algebras and commutative associative algebras, q-3-Lie algebras and type (I)-q-3-Lie algebras are constructed. Also, the non-trivial onedimensional central extension of q-3-Lie algebras is investigated, and new q-3-Lie algebras [Formula: see text], and [Formula: see text] are obtained.

AbstractThe aim of this paper is to generalise the construction of n-ary Hom-Lie bracket by means of an $$(n-2)$$ ( n - 2 ) -cochain of given Hom-Lie algebra to super case inducing n-Hom-Lie superalgebras. We study the notion of generalized derivations and Rota-Baxter operators of n-ary Hom-Nambu and n-Hom-Lie superalgebras and their relation with generalized derivations and Rota-Baxter operators of Hom-Lie superalgebras. We also introduce the notion of 3-Hom-pre-Lie superalgebras which is the generalization of 3-Hom-pre-Lie algebras.

In this paper, by using Gröbner–Shirshov bases, we show that in the following classes, each (respectively, countably generated) algebra can be embedded into a simple (respectively, two-generated) algebra: associative differential algebras, associative Ω-algebras, associative λ-differential algebras. We show that in the following classes, each countably generated algebra over a countable field k can be embedded into a simple two-generated algebra: associative algebras, semigroups, Lie algebras, associative differential algebras, associative Ω-algebras, associative λ-differential algebras. We give another proofs of the well known theorems: each countably generated group (respectively, associative algebra, semigroup, Lie algebra) can be embedded into a two-generated group (respectively, associative algebra, semigroup, Lie algebra).

Several studies have been made to obtain larger classes of non-associative algebras from classes of algebras with a known structure. Thus, we have right alternative algebras (2)* and non-commutative Jordan algebras (6), (7), (8), and (9). These algebras are defined by a subset of the set of identities of the algebras from which they derive their names. Also, Albert (1), among others has studied Jordan admissible algebras. This paper is concerned with algebras which are related to Lie algebras in that they satisfy some of the identities of a Lie algebra and are Lie admissible. Theorem 2 answers a question raised by Albert in (1).

AbstractWe extend the basic theory of Lie algebras of affine algebraic groups to the case of pro-affine algebraic groups over an algebraically closed fieldKof characteristic 0. However, some modifications are needed in some extensions. So we introduce the pro-discrete topology on the Lie algebra ℒ(G) of the pro-affine algebraic groupGoverK, which is discrete in the finite-dimensional case and linearly compact in general. As an example, ifLis any sub Lie algebra of ℒ(G), we show that the closure of [L,L] in ℒ(G) is algebraic in ℒ(G).We also discuss the Hopf algebra of representative functions H(L) of a residually finite dimensional Lie algebraL. As an example, we show that ifLis a sub Lie algebra of ℒ(G) andGis connected, then the canonical Hopf algebra morphism fromK[G] intoH(L) is injective if and only ifLis algebraically dense in ℒ(G).

We develop a notion of deformations using a valuation ring as a ring of coefficients. This allows us in particular to consider the classical Gerstenhaber deformations of associative or Lie algebras as valued deformations and to solve the equation of deformations in a polynomial framework. We consider also deformations of the enveloping algebra of a rigid Lie algebra and we define valued deformations for some classes of non associative algebras.

We classify all finite-dimensional Lie algebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0, whose nonzero elements have abelian centralizers. These algebras are either simple or solvable, where the only simple such Lie algebra is [Formula: see text]. In the solvable case, they are either abelian or a one-dimensional split extension of an abelian Lie algebra.

In this paper, we study the quasi-associative algebra property for the real Frobenius  Lie algebra  of dimension 18. The work aims  to prove that  is a quasi-associative algebra and to compute its formulas explicitly. To achieve this aim, we apply the literature reviews method corresponding to Frobenius Lie algebras, Frobenius functionals, and the structures of quasi-associative algebras. In the first step, we choose a Frobenius functional determined by direct computations of a bracket matrix of  and in the second step, using an induced symplectic structure, we obtain the explicit formulas of quasi-associative algebras for . As the results, we proved that  has the quasi-associative algebras property, and we gave their formulas explicitly. For future research, the case of the quasi-associative algebras on   is still an open problem to be investigated. Our result can motivate to solve this problem.
