In this paper, a relationship between the periodic and the Dirichlet boundary value problems for second-order ordinary differential equations with singularities is established. This relationship may be useful in explaining the difference between the nonresonance of singular and nonsingular differential equations. Using this relationship, we give in this paper an existence result of positive periodic solutions to singular differential equations when the singular forces satisfy some strong force condition at the singularity 0 and some linear growth condition at infinity.

AbstractIn this paper we study the existence of positive periodic solutions to second-order singular differential equations with the sign-changing potential. Both the repulsive case and the attractive case are studied. The proof is based on Schauder’s fixed point theorem. Recent results in the literature are generalized and significantly improved.

In this paper, we study the existence of positive periodic solutions to the equation x″ = f (t, x). It is proved that such a equation has more than one positive periodic solution when the nonlinearity changes sign. The proof relies on a fixed point theorem in cones.

We present a survey on the existence of periodic solutions of singular differential equations. In particular, we pay our attention to singular scalar differential equations, singular damped differential equations, singular impulsive differential equations, and singular differential systems.

The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the convergence of the Euler method to stochastic differential equations with piecewise continuous arguments (SEPCAs). The classical Khasminskii-type theorem gives a powerful tool to examine the global existence of solutions for stochastic differential equations (SDEs) without the linear growth condition by the use of the Lyapunov functions. However, there is no such result for SEPCAs. Firstly, this paper shows SEPCAs which have nonexplosion global solutions under local Lipschitz condition without the linear growth condition. Then the convergence in probability of numerical solutions to SEPCAs under the same conditions is established. Finally, an example is provided to illustrate our theory.
