ABSTRACTTrichotillomania is a relatively understudied psychiatric disorder. Even less is known about this disorder in the elderly. We describe an unusual case of an elderly woman presenting for the first time with trichotillomania at age 70 and highlight the treatment complexities we encountered.

Koro, in its complete, classic form has been described as a culture bound syndrome. It usually occurs in otherwise healthy individuals in the context of acute, severe anxiety. The incomplete form of Koro is said to occur as part of a recognizable primary psychiatric disorder. A case report is presented for the first time of Koro in association with phobia for AIDS. A cognitive-behavioral approach was utilized in the management of the AIDS phobia and symptoms of Koro.

Acute necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis (Vincent disease) is an inflammatory disease also known as ulcerative gingivitis, necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis, fusospirochetal stomatitis, Plaut-Vincent stomatitis, and trench mouth. In case of gingival lesions the Vincent gingivitis is diagnosed; in case of simultaneous lesions of the gingivae and oral mucosa the disease is considered the Vincent stomatitis, and in case of pharyngeal tonsil it is considered the Vincent angina. Rare case of the elderly woman with the disease involving gingival and palatal mucosa is reported. Main causes of the disease are discussed, differential diagnoses are listed, and preventive measures are outlined.

Introduction: Delusional parasitosis is a form of relatively rare psychiatric disorder in which the sufferer holds firms false believe of their skin being infested by parasite. On 1938 scientist Ekbom published a case report detailing 8 patients suffering from this delusional perception and hence this condition is also known as Ekbom’s syndrome. Case Presentation: We present a 67 years old normotensive non diabetic female patient who was brought to the outpatient Department by her son with complain that, insects are crawling under her skin. She has been suffering from this condition for three years and it was causing tremendous psychosocial and physical adverse consequences. She has never been on treatment by any specialist before but has received treatment from traditional village healers with little improvement. Conclusion: Ekbom’s syndrome is a rare yet important delusional disorder. This is a hard to treat condition that Doctors should be aware of.

Aim: The aim of this report is to describe the management of a prosthodontic patient expressing unrealistic expectations with respect to the transition to edentulousness. Objectives: To outline (1) the diagnosis and explicit expectations of the patient on presentation (2) considerations made during treatment planning to address the wishes of the first time prosthodontic patient (3) a sequential treatment plan utilizing transitional partial removable dentures to manage the change to edentulousness (4) functional and aesthetic result achieved. Results: Delivery of immediate removable partial dentures retaining key abutment teeth in upper and lower arches was a viable prosthodontic solution in the transition to edentulousness of a patient expecting unrealistic treatment outcomes. Conclusions: Addressing impractical expectations and devising a treatment plan amenable to both clinician and patient is difficult. Strategies to manage these wishes in prosthodontic dentistry can include transitional partial dentures. Clinical relevance: Practitioners who encounter similar situations may consider this report valuable.

Heterotopic pancreas is a congenital pathology of the gastrointestinal tract, particularly rare in the esophagus. Both symptomatology and findings during preoperative examinations are non-specific and therefore do not often lead to an accurate diagnosis, which is usually revealed only by histopathological assessment of a resected specimen. We report an unusual case of a patient suffering from severe dysphagia caused by heterotopic pancreas in the distal esophagus with chronic inflammation and foci of premalignant changes. This article also reviews 14 adult cases of heterotopic pancreas in the esophagus previously reported in the literature, with the aim of determining the clinical features of this disease and possible complications including rare premalignant lesions and malignant transformation. Especially with regard to those complications, we suggest that both symptomatic and incidentally found asymptomatic lesions should be resected.
