Let X i , Y i i = 1,2 be Banach spaces. The operator matrix of the form M C = A C 0 B acting between X 1 ⊕ X 2 and Y 1 ⊕ Y 2 is investigated. By using row and column operators, equivalent conditions are obtained for M C to be left Weyl, right Weyl, and Weyl for some C ∈ ℬ X 2 , Y 1 , respectively. Based on these results, some sufficient conditions are also presented. As applications, some discussions on Hamiltonian operators are given in the context of Hilbert spaces.

In this paper we investigate analytic functions of unbounded type on a complex infinite dimensional Banach space X. The main question is: under which conditions is there an analytic function of unbounded type on X such that its Taylor polynomials are in prescribed subspaces of polynomials? We obtain some sufficient conditions for a function f to be of unbounded type and show that there are various subalgebras of polynomials that support analytic functions of unbounded type. In particular, some examples of symmetric analytic functions of unbounded type are constructed.

Necessary and sufficient conditions for a Banach space with the Mazur intersection property to be an Asplund space are given. It is proved that Mazur intersection property is determined by the separable subspaces of the space. Corresponding problems for a space to have the ball-generated property are considered. Some comments on possible renorming so that a space having the Mazur intersection property are given.

Let X be a Banach space. Let K be a nonempty subset of X. Let T : K ? K be an I-asymptotically quasi-nonexpansive type mapping and I : K ? K be an asymptotically quasi-nonexpansive type mappings in the Banach space. Our aim is to establish the necessary and sufficient conditions for the convergence of the Ishikawa iterative sequences with errors of an I-asymptotically quasi-nonexpansive type mappping in Banach spaces to a common fixed point of T and I. Also, we study the convergence of the Ishikawa iterative sequences to common fixed point for nonself I-asymptotically quasinonexpansive type mapping in Banach spaces. The results presented in this paper extend and generalize some recent work of Chang and Zhou [1], Wang [19], Yao and Wang [20] and many others.

We give sufficient conditions under which a funclion f: X → Y is an open mapping, where X and y are Banach spaces. This function is not necessarily continuous, but is assumed to have closed graph. We prove our results without requiring that f be Gateaux differentiable; instead, f is assumed to possess a weak type of Gateaux inverse derivative.

LetD(A)be the domain of anm-accretive operatorAon a Banach spaceE. We provide sufficient conditions for the closure ofD(A)to be convex and forD(A)to coincide withEitself. Several related results and pertinent examples are also included.

AbstractWe establish sufficient conditions on the shape of a set A included in the space (X, Y ) of the n-linear symmetric mappings between Banach spaces X and Y , to ensure the existence of a Cn-smooth mapping f: X → Y, with bounded support, and such that f(n)(X) = A, provided that X admits a Cn-smooth bump with bounded n-th derivative and dens X = dens ℒn(X, Y ). For instance, when X is infinite-dimensional, every bounded connected and open set U containing the origin is the range of the n-th derivative of such amapping. The same holds true for the closure of U, provided that every point in the boundary of U is the end point of a path within U. In the finite-dimensional case, more restrictive conditions are required. We also study the Fréchet smooth case for mappings from ℝn to a separable infinite-dimensional Banach space and the Gâteaux smooth case for mappings defined on a separable infinite-dimensional Banach space and with values in a separable Banach space.

This paper is concerned with the existence and controllability of solutions for infinite delay functional differential systems with multi-valued impulses in Banach space. Sufficient conditions for the existence are obtained by using a fixed point theorem for multi-valued maps due to Dhage. An example is also given to illustrate our results.

We consider a class of nonlinear discrete-time Volterra equations in Banach spaces. Estimates for the norm of operator-valued functions and the resolvents of quasi-nilpotent operators are used to find sufficient conditions that all solutions of such equations are elements of an appropriate Banach space. These estimates give us explicit boundedness conditions. The boundedness of solutions to Volterra equations with infinite delay is also investigated.

We study the Bishop-Phelps-Bollobás property for numerical radius (in short, BPBp-nu) and find sufficient conditions for Banach spaces to ensure the BPBp-nu. Among other results, we show thatL1μ-spaces have this property for every measureμ. On the other hand, we show that every infinite-dimensional separable Banach space can be renormed to fail the BPBp-nu. In particular, this shows that the Radon-Nikodým property (even reflexivity) is not enough to get BPBp-nu.
