Three new sensitizers (SD1, SD2 and SD3) with different π-bridge moieties were designed and investigated. SD1-based DSCs achieved a better PCE of 8.96%, while the composite of SD2@Pt/TiO2 afforded the highest H2 evolution rate of 23.5 mmol g−1 h−1.
