PtO–MWCNTs nanocomposites were prepared and applied as the counter electrode in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) for the first time. Excellent energy conversion efficiency indicated that the nanocomposite was a promising electrocatalyst for DSCs.

A collaborative sensitization by silyl-anchor and carboxy-anchor dyes (ADEKA-1 + LEG4) in dye-sensitized solar cells realized a high light-to-electric energy conversion efficiency of over 14% under one sun illumination.

An energy conversion efficiency of 8.31% is reached by using a cemented photoanode for dye-sensitized solar cells, attaining a 31.1% improvement over the standard Degussa P25 sample.
