The protonation of a blue emitting pyrimidine resulted in the formation of an orange emissive acidified form. In adequate proportion of neutral and protonated forms, white light emission is observed both in solution and in polystyrene thin film.

The gelation behavior of two novel π-chromophoric bola-amphiphiles has been studied and solution processable pure white light emitting and CT gels have been realized.
