Nickel–cobalt mixed phosphides encapsulated into nitrogen-doped carbon nanocones have been successfully prepared through a facile ammonia-etching method followed by phosphidation treatment, which exhibit high electrocatalytic activity and excellent stability toward the hydrogen evolution reaction in both acidic and alkaline solutions.

Oxygen defect hollow Co3O4/nitrogen-doped carbon (OV-HCo3O4@NC) nanocomposites were successfully synthesized by simple one-step pyrolysis of tannic acid-modified ZIF-67 (TAMZIF-67). OV-HCo3O4@NC shows good OER electrocatalytic activity and stability.
