Near-infrared fluorogenic switches for the detection of Hg(ii) ions: applications in real samples and living cells

A novel near-infrared fluorescent probe NIRM was designed and synthesized. The probe exhibited a low limit of detection for Hg2+ (3.2 nM) as well as a large Stokes shift (115 nm), which is very favorable for cell imaging studies.
