A green and efficient catalytic system for the one-pot production of 1-octyl acetate from biomass-derived furfural-acetone under mild conditions was developed by selective hydrodeoxygenation over Pd/C and Sc(OTf)3 as a cocatalytic system.

AbstractIn this research, initial production and characterization of a novel Brønsted-acidic ionic liquid, namely,N,N,N′,N′-tetramethylethylenediaminium-N,N′-disulfonic acid hydrogen sulfate ([TMEDSA][HSO4]2), has been described (characterization was achieved using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy,1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR),13C NMR, and mass and thermal gravimetric spectra). Thereafter, utilization of [TMEDSA][HSO4]2as a highly effectual catalyst for the synthesis of 4,4′-(arylmethylene)-bis(3-methyl-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-5-ol) derivatives through the one-pot pseudo five-component reaction of phenylhydrazine (2 eq.) with ethyl acetoacetate (2 eq.) and arylaldehydes (1 eq.) in relatively mild conditions, has been reported.

The one-pot three-component reaction of several 2-ketoaldehdyes, secondary amines and terminal alkynes to access 3-aminofurans was proceeded well in [bmim][PF6] using a simple and cheap CuI catalyst. The resulted 3-aminofuran...

The ionic liquid 1-methyl-3-(3-sulfopropyl)imidazolium chloride ([MIMPs]+Cl-) in combination with 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl (TEMPO) and sodium nitrite (NaNO2) as a catalytic system demonstrates high efficiency in the one-pot two-step aerobic oxidative condensation of benzyl alcohols with 1,2-phenylenediamines to give benzimidazoles. Various benzimidazoles are obtained in good to excellent yields by this strategy.

S-aryl thioacetates can be prepared by reaction of inexpensive potassium thioacetate with both electron-rich and electron-poor aryl iodides under a base-free copper/ligand catalytic system. CuI as copper source affords S-aryl thioacetates in good to excellent yields, by using 1,10-phenanthroline as a ligand in toluene at 100 °C after 24 h. Under microwave irradiation the time was drastically reduced to 2 h. Both procedures are simple and involve a low-cost catalytic system. This methodology was also applied to the “one-pot” synthesis of target heterocycles, such as 3H-benzo[c][1,2]dithiol-3-one and 2-methylbenzothiazole, alkyl aryl sulfides, diaryl disulfides and asymmetric diaryl sulfides in good yields.

Abstract A straightforward, one-pot multicomponent synthesis of 1-(benzothiazolylamino)methyl-2-naphthol derivatives was achieved by condensation of 2-naphthol, aldehydes, and 2- aminobenzothiazole catalyzed by a small amount of citric acid, which acts as a benign enviermentally catalyst. Mild conditions with excellent yields and a simple isolation procedure are noteworthy advantages of this method.

An efficient Fe(III), l-valine, and 4-OH-TEMPO catalytic system was found for the oxidation of alcohols followed by condensation with sulfinamide or sulfonamide in one pot for the synthesis of N-sulfinyl- and N-sulfonylimines compounds under mild conditions. This transformation accommodates a variety of substrates, shows high functional-group tolerance, and affords the corresponding products in good to excellent yields.
