A bidentate pyrazolylpyridine ligand (HL) was installed on divalent nickel to give [(HL)2Ni(NO3)]NO3. This species is reacted with TMS2Pz to simultaneously reduce one of the nitrate anions and deprotonate one of the ligands.

Reaction of [Cu(PPh3)2(NO3)] (1) in acetone with bis(diphenylphosphino)amine (dppa, 2) yields [Cu(dppa)(PPh3)2]+NO3- (3a). [Cu(dppa)(PPh3)2]+PF6- (3b) has been synthesized by metatheses of 3a with NH4PF6. The salt [Cu(dppm)(PPh3)2]+PF6- (5b) has been prepared by an one batch reaction of [Cu(PPh3)2(NO3)] (1), bis(diphenylphosphino)methane (dppm, 4) and NH4PF6 in methanol, because [Cu(dppm)(PPh3)2]+NO3- (5a) could not be isolated by the direct reaction of 1 with 4. The IR, Raman, 31P{1H} NMR, 1H{31Ρ} NMR as well as the conductivity data are reported and discussed together with the X-ray crystal structure of 3a · 1.8 (CH3)2CO. The structure consists of copper atoms coordinated tetrahedrally by two PPh3 ligands and the chelating dppa ligand and features a highly strained four-membered ring. The distorted tetrahedral cations are hydrogen bridged to the nitrate anions. The colourless needles of 3a· 1.8 (CH3)2CO crystallize in the monoclinic space group C 2/c, with the lattice constants a = 4189.2(27); b = 1223.7(8); c = 2717.8(15) pm;β = 113.16(4)°.

The asymmetric unit of the title salt [systematic name: 2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)ethanaminium nitrate], C8H12NO2+·NO3−, contains two independent cations and two independent nitrate anions. The crystal structure consists of discrete nitrate ions stacked in layers parallel to (010). These layers are linkedviathe dopaminium cations by O—H...O, N—H...O and weak C—H...O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional supramolecular network.

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Co(NO3)2(C12H12N2S)2]n, contains a bis(pyridin-3-ylmethyl)sulfane (L) ligand, an NO3−anion and half a CoIIcation, which lies on an inversion centre. The CoIIcation is six-coordinated, being bound to four pyridine N atoms from four symmetry-relatedLligands. The remaining coordination sites are occupied by two O atoms from two symmetry-related nitrate anions in a monodentate manner. Thus, the CoIIcentre adopts a distorted octahedral geometry. Two symmetry-relatedLligands are connected by two symmetry-related CoIIcations, forming a 20-membered cyclic dimer, in which the CoIIatoms are separated by 10.2922 (7) Å. The cyclic dimers are connected to each other by sharing CoIIatoms, giving rise to the formation of an infinite looped chain propagating along the [101] direction. Intermolecular C—H...π (H...ring centroid = 2.89 Å) interactions between one pair of correspondingLligands and C—H...O hydrogen bonds between theLligands and the nitrate anions occur in the looped chain. In the crystal, adjacent looped chains are connected by intermolecular π–π stacking interactions [centroid-to-centroid distance = 3.8859 (14) Å] and C—H...π hydrogen bonds (H...ring centroid = 2.65 Å), leading to the formation of layers parallel to (101). These layers are further connected through C—H...O hydrogen bonds between the layers, resulting in the formation of a three-dimensional supramolecular architecture.

The title compound, [Co2(L)2]3+·3NO3−[whereL= CH3C(CH2NHCH2CH2OH1/2)3], has been synthesized from the ligand 1,1,1-tris(2-hydroxyethylaminomethyl)ethane. The cobalt(III) dimer has an interesting and uncommon O—H...O hydrogen-bonding motif with the three bridging hydroxy H atoms each being equally disordered over two positions. In the dimeric trication, the octahedrally coordinated CoIIIatoms and the capping C atoms lie on a threefold rotation axis. The N atoms of two crystallographically independent nitrate anions also lie on threefold rotation axes. N—H...O hydrogen bonding between the complex cations and nitrate anions leads to the formation of a three-dimensional network structure. The compound is a racemic conglomerate of crystals containing either D or L molecules. The crystal used for this study is a D crystal.
