This study aims to build a model of critical success factors in the application of Six Sigma for Indonesian small and medium industries and their relation to the industry performance. The critical success factors, successful Six Sigma implementation and the impact on industry performance are validated and analyzed. The method used in this study is Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Square (PLS) by using SmartPLS software. This study uses 54 data from Indonesian small and medium industries that have implemented Six Sigma. The results of this study indicate that a critical success factors that has a positive impact on the successful Six Sigma implementation is the involvement and commitment top management, training and education, cultural change and industrial infrastructure. It is surprising that teamwork has a negative impact on the successful Six Sigma implementation. In addition, the successful Six Sigma implementation has a positive impact on the performance of Indonesian small and medium industries. Then, the model is valid to shows the relationship between critical success factors in the successful Six Sigma implementation on the performance of small and medium industries in Indonesia.

The increasing number of staff and students in Malaysian universities has led to consume energy excessively. The activities of the university's management to reduce the energy expenditure is critical, where critical success factors (CSFs) are the few issues that must be addressed as well as to ensure  the accomplishment of an organisation. Unfortunately, most Malaysian universities are lagging in determining the relationship of identifying CSFs for EM with KPIs towards a sustainable university. Therefore, this research focuses on critical success factors (CSFs) for energy management (EM) towards Malaysian sustainable university. This inquiry is broadened by taking a conceptual measurement model using Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The assessment demonstrates that the construct of CSFs for EM which comprises of ‘Top Management Provision’, ‘Commitment from EM Team’, ‘Planned Maintenance Management’, ‘Consciousness’ and ‘Good Relationship among Stakeholders’ were maintained and some of the indicators relate to this construct were expelled. In conclusion, the findings obtained can assist the decision maker in the university to identify the areas that need improvement in order to increase the performance of EM. This study is very beneficial to all universities, especially universities in Malaysia which practice EM. The existing guidelines also can be improved so as to be more effective and able to be applied to all universities in Malaysia.

Purpose While there is relatively plenty of evidence for the positive impact of communication on the perceptions of organizational change, how organizational changes affect information sharing is relatively unknown. The purpose of this paper is to investigate if a favorable perception of ongoing organizational changes has a positive impact on information sharing and whether trust mediates this relationship. Design/methodology/approach A questionnaire (n=317) was administered to the employees of a large Finnish multinational organization. Partial least square structural equation modeling was used to test the hypotheses based on earlier research findings. Findings The results show that a positive perception of recent organizational changes improves information sharing both directly and indirectly, mediated by trust. Consequently, when changes are perceived negatively, employees recoil from information sharing which is known to have negative implications for organizations. Research limitations/implications Data were collected in a single organization. The nature of the specific changes in the studied organization and its particularities undoubtedly had an effect on respondents’ perceptions. Originality/value This paper contributes to organizational information management research by elaborating on the relationship between organizational changes and interpersonal information sharing between employees. To the authors’ knowledge, this is the first quantitative study confirming the impact of the perception of organizational changes on employee information-sharing behavior.

The present era sees an increasing trend of online purchasing all over the globe, and India is no more an exception. India is likely to become the hub for online market because it is second in terms of population in the world. The study is an effort to understand whether system quality really matters for customer satisfaction, particularly in developing countries, and the website quality works as a mediator or not. The study proposes the theoretical framework of the impact of system quality on customer satisfaction after a rigor literature review. With the help of purposive sampling, data were collected and model tested using partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that system quality and website quality have a direct and positive impact on customer satisfaction and website quality partially mediated. Based on these empirical findings, managerial implications, limitations, and recommendations for further future research are given in the study.

The empirical assessment of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from different perspectives is an ever-green research agenda because of their enormous contributions to developed and developing economies. However, the size and resource limitations hinder the progress of SMEs. In this regard, business networks and connections have great potential to enable SMEs’ access to scarce and valuable resources. Entrepreneurial SMEs’ healthy relationships and connections with stakeholders can yield dynamism and innovativeness. Despite that, the understanding of these networks and connections over the innovation capability of entrepreneurial SMEs is limited and needs further empirical investigation. Thus, this study is among the preliminary ones which assay the impact of network capability on innovation capability in the entrepreneurial SMEs context. This study also investigates the above relationship through social capital. The study ground its assumptions based on dynamic capability theory and collected feedback via a questionnaire from 199 entrepreneurial SMEs operating in Pakistan. After ensuring the reliability and validity of collected feedback, the study employed the partial least square structural equation modeling technique to analyze it. Results of the study expand the understanding by unveiling that network capability has a substantial positive impact on innovation capability. This implies that by fortifying network capability, entrepreneurial SMEs substantially enhance their capabilities to innovate. Results also affirm that by building strong network capability, entrepreneurial SMEs boost their social capital, which subsequently has a positive and significant impact on innovation capability. Finally, by operationalizing the proposed model in the entrepreneurial SMEs context, this study made novel contributions to the literature of network capability, social capital, innovation capability, and entrepreneurship.

Purpose Evidence suggests that hospitals are having problems achieving continuous improvement project (CIP) goals or sustaining their results. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to identify those critical success factors (CSFs) most strongly related to CIP success in hospitals (Lean-Kaizen project, Lean Six Sigma project, Six Sigma projects, and Quality Improvement projects). Design/methodology/approach A retrospective survey was applied to any CIP leaders/facilitators from hospitals that conducted at least one CIP during the last two years. Findings Three main findings were obtained from the 116 valid responses. First, the level of importance of 47 out of 53 CSFs to achieve CIPs success in hospitals was assessed as very important or higher (4 or higher on a six-point scale). Second, there are important differences between the CSFs to achieve CIP success in hospitals in this research and previous investigations. Third, the type of CIP affects the level of importance of 16 out of 53 CSFs to achieve CIP success in hospitals. Originality/value Practitioners involved with CIPs activities in hospitals could use the knowledge extracted from this investigation to improve the impact of their CIPs. Future research should continue in two lines: test if the 53 CSFs for CIPs measure a unique factor and identify the main relationships or paths between CSFs for CIPs and CIP outcomes.

Negative emotions are the result of unpleasant experiences when using a product or service. In education, the low-level of negative emotions are "early warning signals" about student confidence in a diminished university. At a higher level, negative emotions can lead to a variety of coping behaviors such as complaints, sharing a negative word of mount, and switching intention. The study employed the Partial Least Square - Structural Equation Modeling to analyze the relationship between negative emotions and switching decisions in a sample of 374 students who are studying at the University of Labour and Social Affairs, Ho Chi Minh campus (ULSA2). The empirical revealed that there is a positive impact of anger, frustration on the complaint, and negative word of mount. Result of the research are references to university managers in policy planning.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to assess the influence of value management (VM) critical success factors (CSFs) on the implementation of VM activities in building projects with a view to promoting sustainability of construction industry in Egypt. Design/methodology/approach The VM CSFs and implementation activities were recognized from earlier studies; questionnaire survey was conducted to collect data from relevant stakeholders, and the collected data was subjected to exploratory factor analysis. Consequently, the influence of VM CSFs on VM implementation was generated via partial least square structural equation modelling. In addition, through relative importance ranking analysis, the significance VM CSFs were examined. Findings The findings from the proposed model revealed a strong relationship between VM implementation activities and its CSFs; the relationship is at a moderate level with an effect of 22.0%. This indicates that, VM CSFs would be useful to implement VM in the Egyptian building industry. Research limitations/implications Although these studies have been confined to Egypt’s VM studies; they may apply to other developing countries that have not carried out these studies. It is therefore vital, in those countries where the exercise has been entirely undertaken, to analyze the various measures to promote the application of the method. Practical implications This research would be of benefit to stakeholders in building industries to be aware of VM phases and its CSFs that demand utmost consideration. Also, the identified CSFs are expected to enhance the success and value of building projects by adopting VM. Originality/value The novelty of this research work will be a benchmark or board for decision-makers to eliminate the unwanted cost and enhance quality by adopting VM in Egypt’s building projects to achieve their sustainable projects.
